Holiday Illness

Hi All,
Hope this is the right section to post in. My Wife & I went to Lanzarote for 7 days at the end of April, during which, the Wife got sunstroke. We asked the Hotel reception to point us in the direction of a Doctor who promptly saw the Wife and prescribed antibiotics and a cream for her sunstroke.
We asked the Doctor if there was a fee payable for seeing him (because he spoke little English, I showed him my debit card to make him understand). He told us no fee, so we went away surprised but happy.
Now 6 weeks later we have had a 4 page letter, mostly in Spanish asking for details of our travel insurance. As we did not get billed at the Doctors surgery, we never bothered informing the insurance company. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Any advice appreciated.

Was it a private or a state doctor? Did you have/show your EHIC?

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

    Hi Elsien,

It was the Public Health Centre in Playa Blanca (it's open 24/7), so I assume he was a state Doctor. We were not asked to show EHIC card. We also asked the receptionist if we needed to pay and got the same reply from him.

    I doubt it.

Hotels generally point you in the direction of a private practice doctor.

Forward any correspondence to your insurance company.
