Old Style Daily Saturday 9th June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone :hello:
Just to let you know, Nelski’s op went well and she was back on the ward by early afternoon. She has been lucky and has got a room to herself. I think that she hopes to be up this morning. I don’t know whether or not they will start physio over the weekend though, but the main thing is that she is doing ok.
Yesterday I started off well cleaning the inside of the windows, and then got fed up half way round so need to finish them either today or tomorrow.
The outside freezer got sorted, and I now have an up to date inventory. Surprisingly the one that I had wasn’t far out. I was really pleased about that, because in the past I have started off with good intentions and then let it slip.
I need to go to the supermarket on my way home from my travels today for some fruit and veg. I haven’t decided where to go yet. The park is out on Saturday mornings because of the park run, so I will have to think of somewhere else to go this morning.
I don’t really have any fixed things that I need to do today, or any plans, so will just see how the day goes.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and myself been showered, dressed and had brekkie, I'm working, DS1 already up and gone to work (overtime for him starts early but finishes early too) so at present the only person left in bed here is DS2 - he'll get up and catch a lift with me as he wants to go to the gym.
Cloudy, overcast, dull, dreich and dreary start again here, not sure what is forecast we'll see.
Dinner last night was HM smoked sausage and mushroom frittata with grated cheese on the top, a paprika pork chop and jacket potatoes with cheese/beans also, and side salad - made a nice change from the normal Friday night offerings. Tonight will be roasted chicken portions, pork pie, salad, skinny fries.
Yesterday wasn't particularly productive - although I now have holiday ready feet. I went straight to the SM after the pedicure - glad I didn't leave it until a bit later as I left at 10am it was getting really busy and the cars were streaming into the car park - remember now why I make the effort to go first thing on a Friday.
Today we'll be using the time this afternoon to visit the parents and then sorting items for the yard sale next week. We have a lot to sort loft needs sorting although it's not as bad as it was as we sold a lot of camping/caravan stuff when we sold the caravan last year, so not that sure what's up in the loft. Needs a big sort out though as does the whole house really.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone.
Thanks for the news of Nelski, good to hear she's recovering well.
Very muggy here, I had an unusually restless night because of it. Now I've dared to open the window in the bedroom. DM doesn't often have open windows!
Plans for today are set in stone - take DM shopping and then head home. Next week will be a busy one so I need to crack on with it all, get a head start.
Happy Saturday to all.0 -
Good Morning chums very warm and humid night so although I was tired I really din't have a great night's sleep.looks a bit overcast at the moment but still warm.Got a thumping headache so I am going to have a walk this morning to get some fresh air, probably around my local park.
No shopping to do though ,but quite a bit of ironing I am going to my DGD Katie's tomorrow with the family for lunch so I want to get it done and put away today.Busy week ahead as I seem to have lots of appointments lined up Monday morning I know is book club and the afternoon is a coordinators meeting for U3A which I am looking forward to as this year its in Dobbies and we get a nice afternoon teaas a thank you for our work throughout the year with our groups.Tuesday is Coffee morning and Tuesday night is quiz night.Wednesday afternoon is U3A AGM and Thursday I have to take my car in for its yearly service the other side of sittingbourne about 12 miles away (I will take a book with me as I wait while its done not worth coming home and then going back) and friday afternoon its back to History club again. So something on every day this week.:):):) I hope everyone has a good weekend and enjoys the sun if you have any. Wishing you a speedy recovery Nels xx
Happy retirement ancientofdays
Scampi has been a little star lately, he hasn't even yelled at neighbours when they dare to open an upstairs windowHe does stare for a moment though, I think he's checking to make sure no-one comes out of it and dares to come in our garden, lol. He's been following me round the garden and watching everything I do. He seems to be really concentrating on what I'm doing, I wish I knew what he was thinking.
The flowers have dropped from my trailing honeysuckle, time for a good pruning, I think. I usually just cut off dead bits and arrange it along the roof a bit, but it's been leggy (best word to decribe it!) for a while so I'm going to cut it right back. I've already taken down the string of lights to put elsewhere, so my little shelter is going to look bare for a while.
I fell asleep for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon, then did the same again for an hour in the evening. It took ages to fall asleep last night then I woke up at 5am with no energy. I have a to-do list but will just plod through it as I feel like it, if things don't get done they can wait til tomorrow.

Good morning, it's grey here and probably chilly, hope it picks up a bit. It did yesterday.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Nelski, you've got it over with.
I've got a list to work through today, as we're going away for a couple of weeks tomorrow.
DGS2 is 12 tomorrow, so we're going out for a meal with them and other family members to celebrate today, that's all he wants in the way of marking his birthday. Gone are the days of pool parties, soft play parties etc!!
I was out last night at a friends for the usual Friday night, there were three of us, it was very pleasant, thank heavens for friends, what would we do without them. We are friends of long standing and have seen each other through all sorts of times, good and bad.
Anyway, I'll stop waffling, hope everyone has a good day.
Take care folks.0 -
Morning folks and pleased to hear NELSKI's op went well. Hope she convalesces well. Another stifling night here and I woke around 2 feeling smothered. I appreciate the warm days but prefer cooler nights.
Today we are off to the theatre in the next small town along. It's the ballet performance of Cinderella that the two younger DGDs are in. "Margo" (middle DGD age 9) is an old pro now, she has been in so many productions, but this is a first for youngest DGD. We now have a Margo mark 2! I gave them their good luck cards yesterday and a gift as a memento of the show.
There are two performances today and again tomorrow. We are booked for this evening's show and meeting for a meal first about 5.00. Mr TA is coming but will have something that he is able to digest before we set off and then just have fruit juices. It's not ideal but really the only solution the way things are.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) where needed. Welcome back JACKIE from your trip. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
TravellingAbuela, would you consider stopping colouring your hair and leaving it to go its natural colour?
I was thinking it would be one less job for you to do, I quite like the colour of mine, its white in case you hadn't guessed! DH likes it too so thats ok.
I also wondered if you could get Mr TAs meds delivered to your door, I order my tablets on line from the doctors then pick them up, but my friends mum gets hers delivered to the door.0 -
Morning All
Beautiful and sunny here, the washing is on the line. Hoping it dries this morning as rain is due later.
I was out for a meal last night with work colleagues, two are leaving at the end of term. Enjoyed my meal and there was good chat all round. The only down side is that I've had two late nights in a row!
Pleased to hear that Nelski is doing well, here's hoping for a speedy recovery. Thanks for keeping us up to date Holly.
Enjoy the show TA.
Glad you had a good holiday Jackie.
Have a good weekend everyone, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Thanks for the start Holly and letting us know all went well with Nelski’s op, fingers crossed for a quick recovery.
Dull and overcast here, just been out to top up the bird feeders and it’s coolish, my hay fever is bad again today after a rotten day with it yesterday, East Anglia is on the high scale at the moment
There was only one person in front of me for the queue for blood tests yesterday and I was called in within 5 minutes, didn’t even have chance to open my book and was out in 10 minutes. Apparently after 10am is the sweet spot so I was lucky to go then. The nurse was very efficient as my veins are notoriously shy but all done very quickly and needles have never bothered me.
Today we are meeting eldest DSS at 11am for brunch, then he is off to play cricket and I think his Dad will go with him to watch. Not many other plans so will just potter and then get over to see horse girlie this afternoon.
Have a good day folks x0
