Sony Refusing to Repair My PS3

Just wondering where i stand on this.

I bought a second hand PS3 with no receipt but i know where it was bought and when. Sony are refusing to repair it now that it wont read discs because i don't have a receipt. My arguement is, no matter where and when it was bought it is still under a year old and thus within the warranty period. I have been argueing with the CS manager for 2 days now and i'm not getting anywhere! Even threats of burning it and buying an Xbox 360 didn't work lol!

Please help i don't want to have to throw £400 in the bin :o

Your contract is with the retailer, therefore you need to contact them intially.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • I see, so even though i don't have a receipt i can still take it back to the retailer? It was purchased from Game

Do you have any other proof of purchase, e.g. credit card statement?

Yep, take it back to Game, but as Noctu says, you need some kind of proof of purchase x

The warranty is with the retailer but their contract is with the initial purchaser so you have very few rights. You can only hope for them to sort it under good will. If it has to go back to Sony there may be a problem as they may insist on a copy of the receipt.

Sorry, my mistake, I missed that the OP bought it second hand. Therefore the OP's contract is with the person that he bought it from.

OP, did you buy it from a friend or from a business?

Do you know when and where it was bought?

The reason I ask is because my daughter managed to wreck her PSP by taking it for a swim in the bath, all sony asked for was when and where I bought it, they came and delivered a new one and took the old one away, as easy as that

I did post at the time rating them on their service as 2nd to none.... I was very impressed with them.

So if you bought from a friend and can get a date/place of purchase go back to Sony again.

he said he does know where and when it was bought, if the person he bought used a GAME card could they not track it via that or if the person he bought it off used a credit card use that to get GAME to replace it
