Hi
We have three 210L water butts of different makes. But Hoselock Hose End Connector does not give a proper fit.If the tap is on, the water leaks from the bottom of the yellow bit of the connector. If the water flow is increased it leaks from the top of the yellow bit as well.So we bought yet another new hoselock hose end connector-same problem persists!!!.
We have attached the picture of the hose end connectors we bought.
The water butts are full of water from recent rains and I really don't want to empty them to fit new taps.![image2_zpshcs1wkpm.jpeg.html?filters[user]=145062230&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0](http://http://s1064.photobucket.com/user/60bowens/media/image2_zpshcs1wkpm.jpeg.html?filters[user]=145062230&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0)
3/4 inch hose end with 1 inch threaded end would be ideal for our use as we could then connect a timer we have.
Anybody who knows which brand or trader sells one which is ideal for our use, please let us know

Most of us are familiar with Hozelock fittings. The Type you illustrate is designed to snap fit into the tap connector shown at the bottom of this picture.
In turn, the connector is designed to fit onto a bib tap like this:
replacing the brass bit which would otherwise fit direct to the hose and be held with a jubilee clip.
Now, you haven't shown what the tap on the butt looks like, but if it's not as above, it won't work.
What might work is one of these instead, but as I don't know what you have on there, I can't be sure:0 -
I have four 210 - 230l water butts. the 1st overflows into the 2nd, and the 4th overflows into the 3rd.
currently with the lack of rain, I've now emptied them all!
The best one was from Wilkinsons as the tap was already fitted, so no problems trying to wriggle in to fit.
Not sure where Hozelock comes in - standard tap fitting - I either pour into a bucket, or watering can.
However, if you do have Hozelocl fittings that you are having problems with - their customer service is very helpful (I have one of their pond filters) - https://www.hozelock.com/I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
No response.
Why do people create posts and then fail to respond? In this case they seem to have waltzed off for 9 days.
Another one to add to the 'Posters to Ignore' list!0 -
Another poster who doesn't give the right information for us to help either. Plenty of photos of the connector that don't work, but no information or photo of the tap fitted to the butt. Does it have anything even remotely like a Hoselock compatible tap fitting? Most don't, in my experience. However, the common water butt tap can be replaced with one that does work fairly easily.
Another alternative is to directly fit a short length of hose to the tap, and then fit hose connectors to that. Warm hosepipe fits the small waterbutt taps very snugly.0 -
They've left their address.....I suppose one of us could always go round and give them a hand.
I think you [STRIKE]might be[/STRIKE] are definitely nearer than me. It's the one with the magpie on the lawn.0
