I dont know what the problem is amit, but my home dvd player is a bit fussy about certain brands of disks that it will play. Can you try a different brand of 'copied' dvd?
  • If you look a certain websites that sell dvd media you will see that some brands of media prefer certain machines while other are not as fussy - your laptop may be the fussy type.

Sorry, this may not be the solution you were looking for but as you said original one's play fine!

Could depend on disc type and the DVD-ROM/RW in the laptop. e.g. Dell used to very much part of the +R camp so only +R discs could be read or written in their machines.

More information on the laptop and the brand of discs used would be appreciated.

The laptop DVD rewriter takes all format disk inc dual layer 1s. I just tired burning the same DVD and used a DVD-r disk the DVD played then I took the DVD back out of the laptop and inserted the same DVD again and it would not play it the second time it would not recognise the disk. It’s very strange. The laptop is around 2 months old.
