Should I pay?

Hi,
I have read the 'Newbies' thread but can't work out where I stand having overstayed in an NCP car park by 30 mins. I paid to stay for 2 hours, but stayed 2.5 hours. I have received a PCN for £100. I am not questioning the fact I overstayed, but it is an extortionate amount for a charge.
I also didn't realise that they can figure out how long you stay by photographing your number plate on entry and exit, and had just hoped that there wouldn't be a parking attendant around a high street car park at 6pm on a Friday evening.

Depends on how the letter/fine is worded. Is it a Penalty Charge Notice or just an invoice called Parking Charge Notice?0

You say you have read the FAQ before posting
Throughout you are advised never to reveal who was driving
You need to edit your OP to remove details of who was driving
The ppcs monitor this forum and can use your posts against you
(Posing your question is pretty redundant in a forum dedicated to not paying!)0 -
No, you should not pay, it is a scam.
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
It is a Parking Charge Notice. So what do I do if I don't pay it? Just completely ignore it?0

The answer to the above question, and most of the other things you need to know, will be found in the sticky threads, have you not read them? You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
