Old Style Daily Friday 8th June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
I am well and truly back to not sleeping again unfortunately. I’ve given up, got up and been reading for a while, and am having a wander around the internet now.
I’ve got the bedding in the WM and I am hoping that I can get it dry on the line, but the forecast is for dull overcast weather here today so we will see. There is another load to go in if it looks like I will be able to get it dry, if not it can wait.
There is some dusting that needs doing and the inside of the windows yet again. It feels like I only did the windows a couple of weeks ago, but it must be longer.
I need to try and sort out the outside freezer at some point today as well, it would be good to be able to find things in there, and make life so much easier.
I’m pleased that you enjoyed your time with your brother Lainey, I certainly enjoy the times that I spend with just my brother having a catch up as well.
TA ((hugs)) I wish I could do something to help in RL.
Happy retirement AOD, enjoy your first day of freedom.
Nelski good luck with the op today, I hope it all goes well and that you are soon back home recuperating.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning
Mark this date....me posting at Holly time
Been up since 4 had a good long shower which will be the last for a while (yuk) and now just throwing down a cuppa with intent for another before my 6am cut off. Really tired but hey ho I can sleep as much as I like soon.
Leaving about 6.30 so will probably just run the hoover round quickly before that then at least the house is reasonable to get back to.
AODEnjoy your first day of retirement I am so jealous it must feel wonderful
Take care lovelies and keep the home fires burning :A0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Good luck Nelski hope all goes well and you are back with us soon.
OH woke me around 4 am could not get back to sleep. I have to get up early, have a hospital run for a 9.15 appointment.
Work in the kitchen has been put back to Monday, previous job had over run. The workman did not want to leave me without a sink over the weekend.0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy, dull, dreich and dreary here again, sun didn't really put in an appearance yesterday and there was a cool breeze. We'll see what today brings.
Dinner last night was bacon and onion tart, potato dauphnoise, chicken portions and salad. Tonight will be something and chips, I'll probably have mushroom omelette and salad.
Yesterday I wasn't overly productive, but after work training did the jobs needed in town but forgot hayfever stuff so need to get that today. I did remember birthday and sympathy cards so will get them written today and posted off.
Hoover did get shoved over the carpets, and I did give the kitchen a bit of a clean, so not great but better than nothing. I did get our bed stripped and remade, some bed linen washed but didn't dry that well on the line, rest of the bedding will go in today and will do any other, but not sure there's much as being doing a load a day and line drying so keeping on top of it.
I have a first thing appointment for a pedicure and polish,. feet will then be a bit more respectable to wear sandals and I'll be holiday ready for when we go in a few weeks.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone.
Back to being cheery here. Malaise lasted until early afternoon and bt 7pm I was out cutting the grass in the back garden. Just as I finished (all hot and sweaty after my efforts) a neighbour drove past, saw my open door, reversed and came to call. His two sprockers were too wet to come inside so we sat outside for our chat.
I'm off down to Glasgow this morning, at least my bag is already packed.
Nelski- I hope all goes well!
AOD - I'm sure your last day at work will be great.
Happy Friday to everyone.0 -
Morning folks. Just popping on to wish NELSKI all the best for the op today. I never got back on yesterday with one thing and another so might just catch her before she leaves. And happy retirement to AOD too.
SCARLETRIBBONS I have started buying quite a few bits from B&n Marche in my dotage. In fact I just got a pair of white jeans this week! What I particularly like about their trousers is they do a short length (27") which is perfect for my stumpy little legs!
Well middle DGD has just appeared and we now have some rubbish on tv. The other two will be to waken up shortly and within 5 minutes I will be tearing my hair out! Once they are deposited in their respective schools it's back for the usual Friday Tidy.
Have a good day folks if you can and take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Dull here, we had thunder and torrential rain around 6pm, saved watering the garden! DD and I had spent about an hour watering the allotment yesterday afternoon, shouldn't have bothered.
Eye appt was ok, didn't realise it was a proper 'procedure' with a gown, wheelchair, etc thrown in. Anyway after some faffing around, the Dr decided I didn't need to have it done (could've done if I'd liked, no thanks) and I have dry eye. I have drops to put in for the irritation and that's it. I was so worked up for nothing!
Hope all goes well for you today Nelski.
Glad to hear you're all better Gers.
Happy Retirement AOD!
I had a ring at the door about 8.30 by the boy (12) across the road, his Mum had fallen off a step stool and cut her head, could I go over to give a hand. Her partner was there but was in a complete panic as there was blood everywhere. I got him to phone for an ambulance and she had a trip to A&E, I stayed to look after the two boys who were perfectly behaved and got home about 2am. My friend is fine, a glued head and a good dose of shock, bet she has a headache this morning.
Giving swimming a miss this morning and have a leaving do to go to tonight, I may well be asleep in my starter!
Hope you all have a happy Friday, take care. XX0 -
Morning Everyone,
It's Friday. I think this week has gone very quickly.
Nothing much planned for today. Looks like it could rain - so my plans of hanging out the washing my have to wait until tomorrow.
Nelski Hope everything goes well today.
AOD Happy Retirement

Good morning all, and thank you Holly. It's the usual grey start here, mind, yesterday afternoon it turned bright and sunny. Hoping for the same today.
Good luck for today Nelski, hope it goes well.
It's a big day for you AOD, whoo hoo
BTDT - hope you'll feel better today
TA, yes, I've become a convert to BM. Everything is nicely made. I like their t-shirts because they're not paper thin, and the trousers look nice. I've got a pair of crops from there and they are lovely.
Nipped to DD's yesterday, and the carpet fitter was there laying their new stair carpet, it looks lovely. We took the baby out to give Mum a chance to clear up after him, and had a good walk in the park, it was busy there with little ones and dog walkers.
Today we'll probably take some clothes over to the caravan, in preparation for our trip to Scotland, and do general "stuff". Out tonight at a friend's for the usual Friday night chat, and that's it really.
DH felt a bit under the weather last night with slight vertigo, he does suffer it occasionally, but seems ok this morning, fingers crossed.
Hope everyone has a good Friday. Take care folks.0 -
Morning all!
I had a good day yesterday. I had left myself one job and got that done. Cleaned up my laptop, cleared my desk drawers and my manager brought me home, stopping for a glass of wine on the way.
Unfortunately I haven't slept much, got up at 1.30 and I'm quite tired so I'm going back to bed to see if I can get an hour or so of sleep. Then it will be the Friday Tidy which is sadly needed.
Not having to go to work at all hasn't quite sunk in yet and it probably won't until next Thursday when I'm going in for my leaving lunch.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
