How long to receive the carers allowance decision?

My partner placed an online application for carers allowance earlier this week, but there's very little info' online about how long the process from start > finish actually takes.

Can anyone in the know please tell me how long on average it takes to receive notification of the outcome?

Also, will my partner be called to a face to face assessment - or is the application allowed just based on the answers provided?

The process takes approx 8-12 weeks and there's no assessment. If the person your partner is claiming carers allowance for is receiving either DLA mid/high rate care, PIP daily living or Attendance Allowance and cares for the person for at least 35 hours per week. Your partner must also not earn more than £120 per week. If these apply then Carers Allowance will be paid.
