My thought was that the 35 hours per week included unpaid lunch breaks. 32.5 hours at NMW would give an annual salary in line with what the OP said in post #1 - just over £13k.
Either way I can't see them receiving enough to save for a house deposit.
... and WTC of just over a fiver a week.0 -

If so they should be aware that only paid hours are included. Otherwise they'll ask the same question.0 -

I don't know if the OP is still here, but for the benefit of anyone else in a similar situation reading the thread:
Work out what your outgoings will be once you're in your own place, deduct what you pay your Mum and save that amount every month. No dipping into savings whatsoever.
If you can't live on what's left over you can't afford to move out.0 -
Update from what I mentioned before. My sister earnt just over 13k in the last tax year and has received an award of £0, and owes WTC £500. Thankfully, they are going to reclaim this money from an future award, as her hours have been cut this won't be until April 2019. For now she's looking for better paid work, so that she won't need WTC at that point, and repay out of her wages. So, I expect the OP is in for disappointment.0
