    I've been Money Tipped!
no dont gamble anymore the problem is you will tell your self that you have it in controll that you enjoy it and you have no access to money but you know deep down that the reason you dont want to give up poker is because you dont want to stop gambling alltogther

my oh workmate on the site they work on is in a big mess he remortage the house with out telling his wife stole of the kids sold there stuff on ebay all to play poker online now his wife has left im the house has been reposed and the kids hate him yet when you talk to him he though it was under controll and that he was just having a bad run and he only done it as a social thing:eek:

i think you could end up down this road to i know its hard to give up any addiction but you can do it as other have said find something else to give you some enjoyment as poker is not giving you enjoyment as if it was you wouldnt be on here talking about it you would of just giving up betting on the other stuff and carried on with the poker but as you are on here talking about it you know deep down that its got to stop its like beening a smoker i will give up but still have my first fag of the day it dosnt work as soon you will be smoking more again it the same with gambling you need to stop alltogether

there are suport groups that can help you and you are lucky that your girlfriend is still onside good luck with it all
i cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing

    Hi Biglad

I know where you're coming from with regards the betting and poker. Some things work, then you get stupid and have a total gamble. Unfortunately the same thing applies with poker. If you start with freerolls and never deposit again, if you do win - how soon before you have enough for STT's and higher stake MTT's? And if you're successful, surely a few small bets won't do any harm...

The problem here is control. You were out of control with your betting - you knew it, but still you couldn't stop. Having a complete break is quite disorienting but if you can do a complete month without even looking at one of those sites let alone logging in to your account - you will notice the change in attitude and the way you feel.

Everyone stumbles now and then, so if you do make sure it's by only playing freerolls. If you win, great - don't feel that just because you have money in an account that you need to spend it. Leave it for a while and get back on track. Ignore all those reload bonuses - leave that for those that resist temptation without a second thought. In a few years that may be you, but even then it would be a huge risk to try it.

Playing poker live? Casino - Don't set foot in one again unless it's with a load of friends on a night out and your gf is holding your money. With friends - this might be a safe way to wean you off of gambling, but only if you aren't playing for actual money. Say the buyin for chips is pizza or the sodas. ALL gambling must bee avoided - not even a scratchcard.

Cater to your new addiction - your gf. It'll make you happier in the long run.

just wanted to bump this topic, to say thanks and also for myself

havent had a bet since the 28th and i must admit the first to weeks were hard, even though i hardly ever bet in bookies every time i have walked past one i get a sinking feeling

i have hopefully sortted things out and closed all my accounts online, and having poor credit i cant get a card to open another one

it is quite upsetting and hard to admit i have a problem but when i started lying, stealing, getting moody it has made me think howbad things were. in a way im really glad my gf found out as who knows how far it would have gone.

i got addicted to ebay again and sold a fair few items, one which actually went for 223 which i was hoping for around 50 which was great. it enabled me to pay back the money that i had stolen, dont want to go into that as im deeply ashamed, but as i say was for my addiction

I have also got my love back for sport, its great watching sport now without having a bet on it.

i have uninstalled all my poker programs, and going completely cold turkey for at least a good month and will only play poker with friends or when my girlfriend is around to keep me inline lol

    thanks again

We play poker every week with our friends. Not once have we ever used money we use chips. Its not about the cash its about the social gathering and wind down at the end of each hard working week. Can you not use chips???
You can touch the dust but please don't write in it !

Would you like to speak to the man in charge, or the woman who knows whats happening?

yea i do use chips, and then just put a fiver in the pot or summin

its not really the poker thats an issue, cos ill prob play that, its just the fact i gamble to much, poker is enjoyment and betting is evil. im just going complete cold turkey for a bit though to start the process lol
  • We play a £5 buy-in but never any more.
