Claiming PPI on old Barclayloan

Hi Everyone
I need a bit of help. I took out several Barclayloan's in the 80s / 90s but I don't still have the paperwork.
Was PPI being used then and, if so, how would I go about claiming it when I don't have any paperwork?
I am certain I remember being told on the 'phone when I was arranging the loans that I would have to pay insurance. However, I only agreed to this as I was given no choice as they would have refused my loan otherwise.
I would be grateful for any advice anyone can give me on this matter.
Thanking you in anticipation.

    You don't claim it.

You send in your complaint, stating why you believe you were missing sold.

Be prepared for there being no records though.

You might struggle without the account number but you could start by filling in Barclays online ppi enquiry form and online DSAR. If you loan was still in payment after 1997 you've got more chance they'll find the ppi because they took over the insurance underwriting, so there could still be a record of yours. If you paid the Barclays loan by direct debit see if your bank can supply some statements from that time
