The problem if you have tax issues .... From another thread on here they are changing the tax code in you personal tax account every day but (fortunately?) only sending that to employers once a month.
So what code does your employer actually have? Maybe check in with them just before they do the payroll run!
Thanks for your concern but my issues, and they really were minor issues, sorted them selves out this week when HMRC reviewed 2017/18.
Over the last 4 months of 2017/18 my codes on the personal tax account changed each time I logged in but not once was I, or my employer notified of the changes.
For 2018/19 I received a Notice of Coding in February 2018 and my employer has used that code from 6 April to date. However my personal tax account kept on changing. It even showed on 6 April (yes I did actually look on 6 April) that I was on a month 1 basis. Now where is the logic for a month 1 basis coding on the first day of the tax year?.
Anyway that is all sorted now but the point of my post at#9 was that codes shown in the personal tax account may not always actually be applied.0 -

This is completely normal for tbe Personal Tax Account.
When you log in the PTA sweeps your tax record. It looks at your earnungs to date, the tax paid, calculates the tax day (how many days remaining in the tax year) and looks at the estimated pay currently held on your records for each live source of income.
It then calculates what code it believes you should be on in order to collect the tax it believes is due based on that information.
This code is not issued unless you make any changes.
It is not recorded on your records unless it is actually issued.
If you make no changes or dont accept the code then nothing further happens with it.
The reason why the code changes everyday is because as each day passes there is one fewer day left in the tax year, so if the PTA believes you have underpaid tax based on the information held then the restriction in the code to collect the underpaid tax changes as there is now less time to collect it (one day less than previously)
Whenever you log in you should always check estimated pay details and correct them accordingly as accurately as possible. That way if a new code is required the system will issue one.
If you make changes and the code calculated is the same as the one in operation then an update will be made but you wont recive a copy of the code as it's already being used.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
