HDD Recorder or DVD Recorder.

Some strange advice.

Put simply, a combination unit DVD/DVR with a least a single tuner is what is needed.
There will be times when she wants to archive programmes, so that's why she will need the DVD recorder. The DVR/HDD is for everyday use.
A single tuner is all that is needed, as she already has Freeview on the TV.
It that is beyond your budget, I would still consider a Freeview DVD recorder with DVD-RAM capability,(works in the same way as a DVR/HDD) as I may want to share my recorded content.0 -
That's entirely likely.

So can you use the BT Vision equipment as a standalone Freeview PVR without BT Broadband? I>E> you dont want the download facility? It pays to challenge0

I love my old svhs/hdd recorder, trouble is that once my son has filled it with Dr Who's you soon notice that removable media is a must, given the choice I'd go for the hdd dvd recorder combo, everyday stuff and live pause- hdd, stuff to keep- dvd, simple and quality pics on both. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

Yes thanks but I understand that, but do you only need the broadband for the sport and film downloads, surely the freeview works independantly through your digital aerial and your pvr facility would'nt be affected, is that the case. For example if you need bb to take the service and you have a system malfunction you would not only lose internet access but all your tv channels. AS for the PVR Sky+ pvr only works whilst subscribing to sky which I understand but does the BT PVR only work whilst you have BT internet access which I do have at the moment? It pays to challenge0

I thought that I answered the question. If you are still unsure, you can call BT and ask them what happens if your internet connection goes down. e.g. Will you lose your Freeview channels?
Public school education.:p
But seriously: To get the Freeview channels, you'll also need to be in a Freeview reception area, which you can check at https://www.freeview.co.uk. However, even if you can't get Freeview, you will be able to use BT Vision's On Demand and interactive services, while getting regular TV channels through your aerial. However, you won't be able to use our Digital Television Recorder (DTR) functions like pausing live TV and recording up to 80 hours of programmes.0 -
I have the humax 9200T and it's great, only downside is when you want to keep recordings they continue to take up space so a DVD recorder option would be handy, however, you can connect the hummy to your pc, copy recordings off and burn using your pc's dvd drive though it's a bit fiddly. Being able to watch 1 channel and record another 2 at the same time is quite handy and recording using the EPG makes life so much easier.0
