Cleaning car cover

Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes

We live next door to a family who own a Bentley which they keep covered at all times with a cashmere cover. The cover costs £1,000 apparently and was recently replaced.

Some workmen on our property today have splashed the cover with muddy water whilst jet washing our front garden. This shouldn't have happened because there is a low wall between our houses, but it's happened.

Next door are obviously not happy, and looking to us to put right.

Anyone have any idea how to clean a cashmere cover if this is even possible? It's on their car all the time so it must be water resistant though clearly muddy water is going to leave a mark if not treated.

There is zero chance of them accepting that they should just live with an imperfect cover by the way.

If an outside car cover can't handle a bit of muddy water then it's not very good. Should be able to rinse of no problems, if not spray on some APC and give it a brushing down, then rinse off.

If the cover is just cashmere then its not designed to be outside. If the cover is designed to be outside then the outside would be waterproof and could just be sprayed clean. The cashmere is for the paint work and not for the outside world.

Offer to wash it, point out seagull poo scenario if they say it can't be. It would be in a similar state if it was like last summer where sand from the Sahara desert was dumped on the UK when it rained.

I would be passing this to the workmen on your property who are responsible.

I would have thought that the cashmere would be inside & a hose clean fabric outside.

Not your problem then. You refer them to your contractors.

It's on the cover, not the car. If they put it on the wrong way round, with the inside actually being for weather protection and perhaps should have been outside: done for cosmetic, appearance sake, that's their very silly, very pretentious problem.

It protected the car. Should they have had another cover to protect the cashmere cover? I would tell them to suck it up and move on.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
