Yes, they will charge you a lot for doing effectively very little.

The complaints process is simple and free.

    Why pay any third party?

(Why ask about this company only AFTER you've already signed up with them?? )

If you can manage the complexity of posting to this forum, you most certainly can complain yourselves.

By the way, I have no idea whether this company are "legit". All I know is that they will take around a third (plus VAT) of any redress you might be awarded.

    Sorry.

Unless they put in lies on your behalf, in which case you get nothing and lose your shot at putting in an honest complaint.

Except the information you have to provide to the claims firm for them to post your letter off could be provided direct to the firm to make a complaint.

Claims firms do not have any special powers or access, they rely on gullible or naive people to believe they can do all the work and get you loads of money when in reality all they do is send off generic templates full of lies to everyone under the sun and hope to get lucky. Claims firms just employ minimum wage call centre people who record what they think you said, whack it in an envelope and post it and see what happens.

If you can setup a complaint with a CMC you can claim directly, if you want a hand doing it, ask on here or use the MSE recommended tool Resolver

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

We didn't provide them with any details as the loans we had were in the 80s and 90s and we havent a clue who they were with. Husband just ticked all the boxes for all the banks and finance companies and sent off the letter :)

I doubt you'll have any success with or without a Claims Company then.

And the CMC just sent a blanket letter to everyone and hoped to get lucky, as you could have done. Why do you think Martin Lewis and MSE say over and over not to use CMCs? There is no database of loans or anything, the CMC have just bombarded everyone. How are the CMC going to prove any of your allegations of wrong doing (do you even know what they have said was wrong in the sale)? You have to provide the evidence yourself which again, you could do yourself direct!

Finance from the 80s will be pre-regulation and rejected anyway, only products direct from banks and similar bodies will have to be considered pre-2005

Their letter mentioned the RBS, that's who we bank with. I haven't ever read Martin's article on PPI because I never thought it was relevant to us. My husband just filled in a form that came in the post and sent it off. And why so hostile on this board? I'm only asking for advice re money, which is what this forum is all about. We're pensioners and not up to date with all of this stuff, as we hardly ever had loans, only a few from the bank. Never mind, forget I asked.
