Old Style Daily Thursday 7th June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
beenthere_donethat - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy, dreich, dull and dreary again here, but the days seem to be starting off like this, then sky clears and we get some sun, although yesterday the sun seem to come and go - we'll see what today brings, the forecast is dry so I have a wash load ready to peg out.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was full english - lovely it was, not sure what we will be eating tonight, but I'll sort that when I go into town later. This morning I have a training session, then will go into town to visit the building society and bank, I have a couple of other jobs to do also.
Yesterday work was busy, all the people that haven't visited/contacted us did so - calls were stacked most of the day and it was just a hard slog, pleased to be on days' off but I'm working Saturday then back to it again on Monday. I'm sure after a day today taking it a bit easier the stress will lessen.
I have all the other normal jobs to do, so will just be doing the bare minimum.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Not a cloud in the sky! Washing on the line and I've done the ironing, only because I woke up early and there was no-one on here to chat to!
I have my second eye procedure today, not looking forward to it after last time but needs must. I'm going to work then coming back to drop the car off and DD is taking me there. Hopefully I'll be ok to visit the allotment later, haven't been all week.
Picked up the unit DD bought from Ikea last night, the roads were strangely empty and the store deserted so a quick trip.
Hope all's well in your worlds, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks BTDT. A bad night for me too but nothing new there, all Mr TA's health problems being the main cause of my worries. He just seems to be fading away with the gastroparesis and inability to eat much. He has enough to contend with without this getting thrown at him too.
A dull start for us but the sun is forecast to appear around lunchtime. I could do with stripping the bed when Mr TA vacates it and get that pegged out. Then the food shop to do, although I don't think we need a great deal. Mainly fruit, veg and dairy.
The gas service got cancelled yesterday (van breakdown!!) and is now supposed to happen this afternoon. We'll see! But at least my hair got cut and feels much tidier now I am back to my sort of pixie cut. Quicker to cope with too as I haven't time for faffing around with it. But oh dear it drastically needs colouring as the skunk look is back with a vengeance with my grey roots.
The 3 DGDs are here for late tea and sleepover. It will be a staggered arrival by them as only one is at swimming club, the other two are at dress rehearsal for the ballet at the w/e. I think I shall make the usual Bolognese Bake but in individual dishes timed for when they each arrive.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) where needed. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

I've been spending a lot of time in the garden. My reward is painI've been attacked by holly leaves and a gooseberry bush. I was tying up the gooseberry when a bit escaped my hand and pinged back towards me, I had a few scratches but one thorn caught my face and left me with a scratch on my chin. It wouldn't stop bleeding so I stuck a bit of tissue on it, I'm glad no-one saw me because they'd probably think I'd cut myself shaving :rotfl: I was also attacked by a twig, not sure how that happened but I have a nice big cut on my thumb.
I have some work to do and must hoover the whole house, it hasn't been done for a couple of days. I was planning on spending a bit of time in the greenhouse this morning, but there are bamboo canes sticking out of the ground and all that glass and if yesterday is anything to go by, it won't be a safe place for me to be

Morning all,
Such a worry for you TA I so wish there was something we could do. Such a beautiful morning already. No clouds, just lovely blue skies. Cleaned my Windows yesterday, they gleam! and went on a cobwebs hunt too.
Bedding to launder today and the ritualistic vacuuming.
Onwards and forwards

Morning everyone
Yesterday turned into a bit of a nothing day. I couldn’t find the energy to do anything. For some reason I felt tired all day and wondered if I was coming down with something, but so far feel ok, so it must just have been one of those days that everyone gets from time to time.
No shopping needed today, so I may go to the seaside for the afternoon if the weather is ok.
At some point soon I need to make an appointment for an eye test, I put it off a few weeks ago but I’m noticing more and more that I’m having problems reading and looking at the computer screen. I think it’s the thought of the additional expense of new glasses that is putting me off.
Good luck Camelot, I hope the procedure goes well.
I’m in need of some tea now, so take care everyone and have a good day0 -
Morning everyone,
Dry and bright here with patchy cloud, hopefully it will warm up as it did yesterday.
I had a smashing meal out with my DB last night, the riverside pub was packed with a 45 min wait for food but we talked and talked so the time flew and the food was well worth the wait. It’s lovely to catch up just the two of us now and again, something we’ve been doing for years now.
I have a food shop to do this morning, bit of a stock shop really as have very little in the way of tinned / packet food, I also need to pick up some more bread flour as have got back into making my own again.
Hope all goes well Camelot .
Nothing I can say to ease your worries TA but can offer a hug x
Have a good day folks x0 -
Good morning, it's the usual grey start here. Yesterday was bl**dy awful. Chilly , drizzly, miserable. Then the sun deigned to come out at 6pm!!
TA, your worries are ongoing, so sorry.
Tru, your garden seems to have turned on you, maybe you shouldn't go out there alone!
Hope you'll be ok Camelot.
Yesterday I met an elderly friend for coffee, then she wanted to go to a shopping centre which is a short bus ride away, so we did that. Had lunch there and a good look round. I didn't buy anything though, except a birthday card for DGS. I was tempted by a few things in Bon M**che, which I used to say was an old woman's shop, but hell, I'm an old woman.
When I got home in the early afternoon, I just did a few jobs round the house.
Today will be what I call "stuff" - general jobs, Bit of shopping, sort some clothes out for going away, tidying, you know the kind of thing. The days slip away so quickly.
Anyway, hope you all have a good day.
Take care folks0 -
Morning
camelot good luck for today hope its more successful this time
TA so sad you are going through this hope today is a good day for you both
Another beautiful blue sky day here
Cracked through a fair bit yesterday but still loads to do today. Want to get the house niceish for when I get home. Need to pack as well and with this hot weather continuing I think Im just going to take shorts and a couple of summer dresses...easy to get on and nice and cool. Whats the bet it goes cold all of a sudden. Bedding is in the washer so should be dry by lunch time to put back on  most hated job.
Last night really fancied a pizza so ordered one from dominosfar too expensive for what it was but it will do again today so hey ho cooking is off the agenda at the moment.
Nothing much else to report so I will say see you all soon and hope you all have a great week :A0 -
Good morning, it is beautiful here, sparkling blue sky but clouds are starting to roll in.
TA I am sending positive vibes, I wish I could do more.
Today is my last day if work. I just have one job to do, then clear my laptop and make sure my desk is tidy and my drawers emptied. I'm not going in until the rush hour us over, I really don't need to. There will be a retirement lunch party next week but that's purely social. I have made some cakes to take in today, a lemon drizzle and an almond and cherry, it didn't feel right not to bake especially as there are likely to be beady stares if I don't, I get the old hairy eyeball if I leave it too long between bakes anyway. Unfortunately it is Ramadan and some colkeagues will not be able to eat. a bit scary but even though I'll miss my friends, hopefully we'll still see each other.
I'll report back later when I will have become a woman of leisure. A poverty stricken one, bloody DWP have totally failed to respond to my request for my state pension. It is a good job I'm not reliant on just that. I really thought giving them several months notice woukd help, has it fishfinger.
I might go and have a shower now, have been pootling about since 3.30.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
