balance transfer credit card application

in Credit cards
Hi. I'm new to the forum and seem to have been directed here for my question. I want to apply for a 0% balance transfer credit card (with Santander as it's fee-free) but need to transfer around £8000. I have performed the credit card eligibility check and my personal chances are 80% whereas my wife's is 90%. We need a high credit limit for the balance transfer but I know there is no way of finding this out before applying. We have other credit cards which all have limits above this anyway but I wonder what is the best way of doing it? My income is substantially more than my wife's who works part time but she has a Santander current account in her name only. Are our chances of securing a high credit limit better if the application is in my name as my income is higher? Or would the fact that my wife is an existing bank customer curry favour? We thankfully have a clean credit record. Any advice or opinions would be very much appreciated.

Hi, we move threads if we think they’ll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
I’ve moved your thread from the ‘I wanna’ board to the ‘Credit Cards’ board, where it is better suited.

Why not both apply and see what you are offered, as long as you are not wanting to make other credit applications in the near future, it shouldn't have much of an effect on your files. Anything on a 0% card is better than paying interest on the whole amount.0
