Woolwich ppi

I had a joint mortgage with my now ex husband in 1993 with The Woolwich and we definitely had ppi ad we were told we would not get a mortgage without it. I have contacted Barclays but they have said they hold no records for me.
Is it possible to claim ppi on such an historic account?
Also I don't have any paperwork or account numbers?
And my last question if it was a successful claim would my ex be entitled to it?
Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

You don't claim, you complain it was miss-sold
Being told you had to have it (if you don't) is a miss-sale reason but what proof do you have of this? If it WAS mandatory then it's not a miss-sale. 1993 though, are you sure it was PPI and not say MIG or even life insurance?
If you have no records left and neither do they then you'll not get anywhere anywaySam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Are you sure it was PPI. In 1993, you still had MIG. That would have been compulsory. Plus life assurance was still required by most lenders. MPPI did certainly exist but many people mix it up with other things when it comes to mortgages.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
