Holiday music, Deezer etc - Mobile - how many GB's?

Can anyone tell me please do the above free music streaming services "eat" into your monthly GBs ?

I intend using my mobile for Spotify, Deezer, Soundcloud & Last.fm, instead of loading up my old ipod for my hols this year.

As I listen to music by the pool for a lot of the day, am I likley to need more than my 2GB monthly allowance.

Forgive my naivety but the hotel offers free wi-fi - would it still eat into MY 2GB allowance, even if I'm connected to the hotel's wi-fi ?

Using WiFi will not eat into your data allowance.

Having said that I get a wee bit paranoid about data when abroad so switch off my phones data to make sure I'm using WiFi.

I go further with my darling kids, they hand over their SIM Cards as we get on the plane heading out and get them back when we land (They aren't bothered as WiFi feeds everything they need)

Not sure about the others but if you have a paid for Spotify account you can download loads of music (phone memory allowing) and then use if offline while abroad.

Either that or load up your phone with your music as you would have your iPod.

I would put at least some music on my phone before I go just in case as WiFi in hotels abroad can be a bit hit & miss.

To answer your original question Streaming services can burn through your data allowance, Spotify for example uses between 40-150mb per hour.

One last thing to think about is security. Unless you aren't going to leave it unattended then consider if you would rather run the risk of having your phone or your old iPod pinched from the poolside (although if you will be using your phone anyway....).

Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???

    Thanks for that.
I only have the free versions of everything.
Can I download & Save some music whilst at home to play "for free" abroad.
Sorry to be so numb !

Most of the free offerings require you to stream services. Most importantly, where are you going, check that your monthly allowance is available at your destination.
