Motor insurance advice - currently leasing but what about no claims discount (NCD)?

I am looking for some advice please. I am coming to the end of a 5 year car lease scheme (via salary sacrifice) where essentially I haven't had my own motor insurance policy for the last 5 years. Prior to that I had 20+ years NCD.

1. My understanding is that the last 5 years don't count towards NCD and as there would have been a gap since my last personal motor insurance policy then essentially, does that mean I don't have any NCD at all even though I am claim free for a very long time?

2. Are you aware of any insurance companies out there that would accept a letter from my employee stating that I am claim free for the last 5 years and would offer me some discount?

Just looking for some clarification and advice.

Thanks.

Yes basically you don't have any NCD as it's been 5 years since you had your own policy.

Lazzareo, it's worth getting written proof of both your prior NCD and your fleet experience. The 2 combined should be very helpful in getting discounts especially if you get competitive quotes from brokers
