It looks that way because when logging into my online account i'm seeing a big notice saying that my Everyday Amex account will be changing on 28th July, my account number will be changing and I'll be getting a new card in the post by September. This suggests they'll be replacing it by Visa or Mastercard, most likely the former.

When I called customer services yesterday, they weren't giving much away saying they'll send me the new t&c's through the post by June end. All they could confirm was that my account will DEFINITELY be changing.

I just hope they keep the attractive perks on the new card:

* 0% commission on overseas transactions

* Free cash withdrawals both in UK and overseas, subject to interest applied

* Low APR of 7.4% (useful for cash withdrawals)

EDIT: Received letter this morning confirming this, see post # 7

No they haven't. My Lloyds Avios Amex card is still active though I'm well aware that its only a matter of time before this goes as well.

mbna have brought out a new card for some people

The replacement MBNA Visa Horizon card for MBNA Airline Amex users may or may not be offered to MBNA Everyday Amex users. Unless someone can predict the future no-one knows...

Just received the following letter from MBNA this morning, so they're definitely scrapping their Everyday Amex card:

The new card is going to be a Visa card called 'MBNA Everyday Credit Card' (how original lol) with exactly the same features/fees/interest rates. Happy days :)

Now Lloyds have acquired MBNA I wonder how long it is before my Choice Rewards card(s) are pulled and transferred to a standard Visa/MasterCard?

Same letter received from MBNA so good news really with no chnages to features/beenfits and with Visa more widely accepted worldwide by reatailers and ATMs compared to American Express.

I've received my letter today too.
  • Got the letter too. Features remain the same, just the processor changes from AMEX to VISA. I like this, because VISA is more widely accepted.

But I also liked that I had an AMEX card in my wallet. Maybe I’ll have to look for an additional AMEX card soon. :)
