Common sense would say dont let a 6 year old play a 12+ game?
Mistakes happen. I've made mistakes. More expensive ones than this i might add, but i dont go round trying to make it other peoples fault.
But then, theres little ownership by people in this country any more of their own mistakes or those of their children.
Yes it would, but the only reason to even reply that way to me is outside the point and to gain thumbs up.
Shortest point is that sympathy for anything is totally random, today even more so than usual, if we shame for anything and everything then we become cold.0 -
Depends if it was setup in the OP's case.
You can not set payments up to ask for the 3 digit security code. That is built into the software used. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Within Fortnite is the option to reverse a purchase as well as this link:

We have never put our debit cards in to anything for our kids for his reason. We buy prepaid gift cards from shops for their devices for their birthdays or Christmas so they have a finite amount to spend. They also have paper cards for their pocket money so they can link them to their online accounts or use them for subscriptions if they want. If they want to spend their money on that type of thing it's up to them, we keep an eye on subscriptions they add to them and have a chat about whether they really want them to automatically take their money each month. If we have any concerns about what they are spending, we lock the card until we have had a chance to speak to them about it. It costs us a little per month to have the card, but it's worth it for the control we have.0

How you go about it is the way to go. Nothing wrong with storing card details as long as you take precautions yet many parents don't.0 -
A six year old should be outside playing, not stuck indoors playing a game with a 12 rating. They also should be reading to an adult everyday.Savings as of April 2023 Savings account - £26460.50(14474.88)Current account - £2140.24(4576.79)Total - £28600.74(19051.67) £1010 (£65pm CS/BS) £250 CS/BS/JS0

Although I agree, that the OP should have had a password set up, I think it can be far too easy for transactions to be made on consoles. What I mean is that they should always ask for the security code, the three digit pin at least. It’s not hard for the main account holder to memorise or type in.
I have just paid for Xbox live for my son via his xbox and had no option to subscribe. ‘I will just turn off auto renewal’ I thought and delete the card. I went to delete the card but it said I had a subscription so couldn’t. I then tried to delete the subscription but there was no option to end it. I had to go onto a different device and log into his account and sort everything out from there. If I added things through Xbox, I should be able to delete them through that system too. Also I went to buy vbucks for him and his damn controller was faulty. I bought some, then his controller went trippy and selected them again, instantly buying them. There was no ‘are you sure you want to make this purchase’ or ‘please put in the 3 digit security code’.
Anyway, going back to the OP, I thought that was what the security code was for, so that someone couldn’t just buy things using your card. Can that be argued, that the code was not asked for?
You'll get xbox gold cheaper buying elsewhere - £30-35 opposed to microsofts £50. You can also buy £50 xbox gift cards from cdkeys for around £45. You can save money while keeping your card details off xbox.
As for not asking you if you're sure, you can change that so that it requires additional checks (such as entering a passcode) every time you buy something.
Some people don't like additional checks, some people do. It makes more sense to have a system that caters to everyone. It just means those that do need to ensure their accounts are set up that way.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

I'm honestly shocked that someone thinks this is a useful thing to post.0
