Solicitor letter. What do I do now?

Hello,
I am new to this site and hope you can help me out with some advise. I overstayed in a B&M carpark last august. Around this time I was in the middle of moving house. I recieved the original letter about the 'charge' then moved house and fogot all about it. Somehow they traced me to my new address and I recieved some debt recovery plus letters which I binned.
This week I recieved a solicitor's letter so I have taken this one a little more seriously and now not sure what I should do next. Any advice is greatly appreceiated.
On a side note, the letters from debt recovery plus all stated that I overstayed at the B&M store address, but although the store name, street name and town was correct, the county was noted as greater london and not essex which is where it actually is. Unfortuantly I binned the drp letters.

The forum is not letting me link to the photo of my solicitor's letter. Can an admin allow me to post links?0

The posting photos issue is amply explained in the appropriate forum - this isn't it.
We probably don't need to see the letter TBH.
What PPC issued the ticket and which "solicitor" is it?
You also need to read the Newbies Sticky, which outlines the whole process and lays out your remaining options.0 -
The charge is from G24, and the solictor letter is from Gladstones.0

Gladstones again, such incompetent solicitors ???
Just tell us what the letter says ... who does it ask you
to pay ???
NOW READ UP ON THE INCOMPETENT GLADSTONES

We have been instructed by G24 Ltd in relation to the above debt.
It is our client's case that you are liable for these charges and we would like to draw your attention to the options that our client has in order to recover these from you.
Our client now has the option to commence proceedings in the appropriate Civil Court. This right exists for a period of 6 years (the limitation period) from the date of the parking charge although it is our client's preference to resolve this matter as soon as possible. A claim would result in an increase in the amount sought in terms of any Statutory Costs and Court Fees.
Our client would like to provide you with this opportunity to contact their agent to make full payment in the sum of £150 thereby avoiding the consideration of any future court action and any increase in the amount claimed.
Should you be in difficulty in making full payment then it may be possible for them to agree a payment plan with you. Please now contact our client's agent, Debt Recovery Plus Limited, in order to discuss a payment proposal or make payment online at ****, or by calling their payment line on ****.
If you do not pay within the next 14 days, please keep our client and their agents (DRP) updated as to your current address to ensure that your ability to defend any such action is protected as any County Court Judgment or Decree can have a serious effect on a person's credit rating. It is therefore important that you are appraised of any future Court action.0 -
I find it interesting that they traced me to my new address. Did they search the DVLA again after I ignored the first letter?
Just reading about Gladstones now...0 -
This is a debt collector letter, not a solicitor's letter before action, all explained in the stickies which should be read before posting.
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Such boring stuff Gladstones .... pay DRP ??? JOKE :rotfl:
If Gladstones are instructed by G24 they must first advise
you of their claim, prove it to you together with costs
they claim. Then you have 30 days to respond and that is
where this forum helps you to zap them
Whether G24 will go that far, you have to wait.
In the meantime start thinking of your defence which
includes pictures of the signs and their location etc.
See what the prankster thinks of G24 as well
http://parking-prankster.blogspot.com/search?q=g24
And by the way, G24/Gladstones have to win in court before
the rubbish they spout above comes into play0 -
Yep, the big clue is they tell you to pay DRP. A solicitor would NOT do this.
Its not intersting how they traced you, and it cannot be through the DVLA. Its simple to trace somoene. Takes five minutes.0 -
Shocking that they sent me a letter on solictor's headed paper but not actually from them!
I'm not sure what my defence will be as I have been back to look at the signs and can't see a problem... they do actually clearly state 2 hours max.0
