Morning
Happy birthday silver_oldie hope you have a lovely day
Speky Enjoy your holiday it sounds wild
Had a great time at the Love Island launch party last night what a laugh and I left with a goodie bag of a tee shirt with "Ive got a text" and some flip flops with "future islander" on :rotfl: Last year I got one of the water bottles with nelski on and a shopping bag with "100% my type on paper" on so I have quite the love island collection now. Sorry if this means nothing to you I suspect there wont be many island fans on the thread but its well worth a guilty viewing. Unfortunately I may have indulged too much last night though as my stomach issues are back today. Really need to shift this before Friday or they will cancel again.
Work to do today with a couple of conference calls and the inevitable work that will come out of those.Tonight I am off to the cinema with all the book club girls we are predictably going to see the film Book Clubhave collected enough meerkat 2for1 codes to get us all in for half price so its a pretty cheap night out.
Right best get tea on for call number one have a great day all x0 -

I feel your pain re garden expense as the previous owner planted creeping bamboo near the conservatory and it is so difficult to kill. I finally found a company that will dig up the patio, cut out the bamboo and inject a special
liquid that they need a licence for into any shoots that are left over. They will then re lay and level the patio so it is more usable. Had to gulp at what it will cost but at least it should be done properly and will be a relief to have got the problem solved, fingers crossed.

You have the patience of Job with the tenants. Anyone else would not even consider renewing the tenancy as they seem to be always taking the mick!
Silver oldie
Happy Birthday and make sure you spoil yourself.
I dragged a small ladder into my bedroom and tried to replace a tiny modern light bulb in the fitting above the
bed only to realise I could not see what I was doing and would need to stand on the bed. I decided that it would be stupid to risk a fall so will ask my son in law to do this when they next visit.
Dishwasher is on and the washing machine is just about to go on so I can hang washing outside once I have had some breakfast. Today is very overcast but hoping things will dry and can be finished off in the tumble drier.
Holly
I am so sorry that you do not feel safe at home but it is such a good idea to have a list of places to go, especially if they are free or don't cost a lot. Well done on deciding what can wait for a day when it is unsuitable to be outside.
I am slowly clearing up my bedroom, putting clean clothes away, sorting out the airing cupboard and sorting out books to go to the charity shop or the library. Once the bedroom is cleared and tidy I will unpack the new vacuum that arrived last night and use it.
Hugs to all0 -
Happy birthday silver oldie, I hope the sun is shining for you.0

Afternoon lovelies
I didn't sleep too well last night, tossed and turned til 3am, so feel a bit weary now. May opt for an early night.
We have just dropped Dad off as we have been to F foods over the mountain road. Couldn't see your hand in front of your face, the fog was that thick . Dad was as good as gold for once, except for the never ending " that's cheaper in... ". Now we are both stocked up on toilet rolls and washing powder for a while. We also collected his medication from the chemist as he has finally seen a GP. Fingers crossed this helps clear his chest problem.
We have promised to go up on Friday to cut back his Weigela as it's overgrown, weather permitting. I hope to change his bedding too and no doubt he will find a few more jobs for us by then.
The sun has finally put his hat on and it's warming up quite nicely.
Tea tonight will just be a snack as we have had lunch out, courtesy of Dad.
Silver Oldie Sending you many happy returns of the day.:bdaycake: I hope you have a lovely birthday.
H Hester good on you re the letter. I hope they don't try to give you grief over it !
Elona enjoy your new vacuum cleaner
Nelski sounds like you had a really good time last night. Hope you enjoy your film tonight too.
Speky now just you behave yourself on your weekend away, don't want to see you on TV being all unnecessary :rotfl:. Enjoy yourself ( but not tooooo much)
Holly I think you are one brave lady to go away on your own. I'm not sure I could do it. Anyway please have a few extra hugs from me until then xx.
Enjoy the rest of Tuesday everyone. Hugs to allFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Afternoon all!
Busy one from me, I'll be glad when this week is finished - I'm meant to be semi-retired.
Silver-oldie - hope your day was grand. Happy Birthday for the rest of the day.
I've just come out of a two hour VC meetingthankfully my broadband connection isn't too good so the video part dropped out early on leaving just the audio connection. That meant I could do other stuff whilst listening. Roped myself into an extra session on Monday to help a colleague out.
Got all my work done this morning, collated and sent off to those who are doing the internal verification. My lone Tuesday student failed to turn up so I could finish off in good time. We are supposed be paper-free though I can't find any evidence of that in practice!
Tonight I shall relax a bit. No shopping and no housework to do, or at least none that I am going to do.
Elona - I think it was you who pointed me to a bead curtain last year to use in my front door to help keep the flies out? It's been brilliant so far this year. It's faff to put up each day as I have to use a stepladder, it worth the effort! Thanks so much.
I hope everyone has a good evening.0 -
The sun has finally put in an appearance- it has had to work especially hard today to clear the clouds
All my grand plans for kitchen cupboards have come to noughtbut I did manage to put on the wm for the winter bedding, which is nearly dry & will be folded & put away
& Descaling the kettle - only two months late
DH has been very busy in the back garden - strimming the edges of the lawn, digging up bamboo (which invaded from next door ) & pruning all the bushes :T & he has mostly tidied up after himself :T In fact he is just finishing up - all tools away & clippings raked up. I do love watching my husband work :rotfl:
Now he is fixing the back door which we are currently unable to lock
I really dislike being in a cba moodbut tomorrow is another day :rotfl:
Hope you had a great day Silver-oldie :bdaycake:
