O/S Daily Tuesday 5th June 2018
This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy, dreich and dreary start to the day yet again, yesterday was like it all day with periods of very light rain, today it's supposed to clear and we should be getting some sunshine later. I have a load of washing to peg out which I'll do shortly.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost, so that's now in the fridge, I'll wrapped it in bacon and top with grated cheese and serve with with a spanish sauce, mash and veg.
Yesterday work wasn't as busy as it has been which was a bit strange but the phones were ringing off the hooks all day. We've come to the conclusion that when people visit the office they are now advised to serve self via the online service, we have computers to use free of charge in the office if they don't have facilities at home. A lot of people don't like this and so then go home and ring and ask us to do it for them over the phone, we've been told that we have to direct people to use the online service themselves, we're only supposed to be helping the people that really can't manage to do it themselves or those that are vunerable etc. I don't personally agree with it as we're finding a lot of people's situations are not covered by the online services - whereas if we dealt with them and were able to sort issues out before they become a major issue. Everywhere is going like it though, all the banks seem to think it's ok to just have 1 cashier and you need to deal with a machine to do anything else! Customer service has gone right down the pan. I'm not on the phones today but yesterday we had calls stacked all day and it didn't calm down and I was mopping up the last calls after the telephone lines had closed. There's my rant for the day.
Had a bit of an issue with the electric last night when DS2 switched on some lights that we don't hardly use, it tripped out so obviously a problem there, electrician is coming back tonight - hoping it can be rectified as at the moment we've got tape over that switch so no-one forgets and tries to switch them on.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
Dull this morning, the sun should put in an appearance later - hope so as I have a load of washing to go out.
Not long now AOD!
Hope everything gets sorted for you Rosy.
Work was absolutely manic yesterday, didn't stop from 8am with phone calls and parents in with queries, hoping today is a bit quieter (and the woman I work with, she is so loud and ends every conversation on the phone with ' byeeeeeee' in a very high pitched voice!).
Finished the day with a Yoga session, the teacher comes into school at 3 so no excuses not to go even though I am technically working so I have to keep running through to answer the phone, etc.
Haircut after work then to collect a package, hoping it's the new spools for the strimmer.
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off nmlc
Yesterday was dull and cool, looks as if it will be the same today. Garden really needs some rain.
Think we will have lunch out today, it's my birthday, no cooking or washing up, my present to me
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone
I had a ‘to do’ list that I started to draw up yesterday of jobs that need doing around the house. It started to look a bit too long so I tore it up and decided that they could all wait until the autumn or when it turns cold and I can’t go out.
As I still feel the need to go out because I don’t feel safe at home, I have been drawing up a list of places that won’t take too long to get to on the train. Some I will visit for days out and some places I will go and stay in a B&B for one or two nights. It will get me away from home and make a pleasant change. The list is getting quite long though, so will probably need cutting down.
Today I need to get a bit of shopping first thing before it gets too busy, then I need to bring the spreadsheets up to date for May. I think I spent a bit more than usual because I had a couple of additional expenses I hadn’t planned for, so I will need to cut back a bit this month.
Happy birthday silver-oldie :bdaycake: I hope that you have an enjoyable day. Lunch out sounds good xx
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Hope today is better for you workwise. You too CAMELOT. Not long now AOD are you getting excited by thoughts of freedom!
A dull start for us too but the sun is forecast to appear by lunchtime. A miserable day yesterday but it stayed fine and the washing dried despite no sun.
I need to ring the surgery this morning and see if the dietitian's letter has got to them. Mr TA is in need of more Aymes Shakes and also a supply of the Fortisip milk she is requesting for him. No doubt they will be as obliging as ever!!
Finally an appointment arrived yesterday for Mr TA to see the Urologist in Leeds re removal of the ureteric stent. This is is third one and he had no problems with the first two but this one is more bother than it's worth. His Oncologist agreed and was going to chase the appt up. There was no mention of transport being booked so I rang them. It was like facing the Spanish inquisition, you'd have thought she was paying for it herself. There wasn't this problem when Oncology were asked to book it.
No fixed plans for today so I suppose I should clean all the windows inside. The window cleaner is due this week and they won't look any better for doing. They are such big windows and the job gets harder as I get older!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who want/need them. Hope the sun is shining on you. Take care all xx
Oooh more cake! Just spotted it's SILVER OLDIE's birthday! Have a lovely day xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all, a quick post as I'm running a bit late. I don't have to work set hours but have a load of things to do today. This is the last Tuesday!
Happy birthday silver-oldie, have a lovely day!I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning Everyone,
Work went very quickly yesterday.
Looks very cloudy again today. May just put this load of washing to dry indoors, as the lady on my weather clock is holding an umbrella. Some of yesterdays clothes did try completely, so had to place them on the rack to dry.
Nothing exciting planned for today.
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday silver-oldie hope you have a lovely day.

Morning everyone,
This time tomorrow, I'll have the traditional airport beer in my hand as I fly to Ibiza with 18 of my best friends for a stag do. Back on Sunday, although I suspect it'll take me a while to recover. I think I've got everything ready. I'll finish packing my bag tonight and ensure I have everything. Can't wait.
In the meantime, I've been to the gym this morning and I'll be leaving work early to go and get a fresh haircut.
Happy birthday silver-oldie!0 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need, also happy birthday to silveroldie.
Raining here today so I shall have to run the engine later, the thieves are back so the boat will be locked down tight even when I'm on board.
The tenant is getting a letter explaining that she is liable for the cost of repairing the decking and also that it has to be done professionally and not by Mr Bodgit ( her partner ) he thinks he's the world's greatest at DIY but is totally useless.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Another dull morning but breezy, I have laundry in the machine, hope to get them dry outside. The bed linen dried yesterday.
Cleaners here today, I had to put the dyson on the sitting room carpet yesterday, no idea why there were so many bits on it. I also manaded to empty half a packet of dried yeast on the floor yesterday morning, so that had to be cleaned up as well.
The floor in the bathroom and kitchen seems to be drying out ok now, I cannot see right to the back under the sink unit, but certainly the front boards are dry now. Its 6 weeks since we found out the cause of the problem, I am getting just a bit fed up with having to go to various places in the house to find things that are usually kept under the sink.
The landscaper came by last night with some slabs for us, seven slabs and a couple of bits. He had taken up a patio in the next viilage and was on the way to the dump with them. He is hoping to get back later to do the other side of the lawn and put smaller slabs in to match the patio he did earlier in the year. We seem to have spent a lot of cash in the garden this year, I just hope we live long enough to make good use of it!!
Coffee morning tomorrow, Thursday I have booked the car in to get new tyres on the front and then go on to Aldi, the tyre place is opposite Aldi. Friday I am taking one of our nrighbours to the diabetic clinic in Leicester. The ambulance service changed to a new provider last year, the service has got worse rather than better, the other week she had to wait 5 hours to get home. Ridiculous.....
Supper tonight, baked cod, mash and veggies, fresh parsley sauce, the parsley in the herb bed is going nuts. The strawberries last night were delicious with a blob of ice cream, doubt there will be any more today though.0 -
