When I moved in toilet was leaking toilet was pretty nasty.
So got a plumber in to install new toilet and the part what was leaking the flexible hose connector.
I had bought the new toilet kit from screwfix
In the middle of instillation he said was an issue he said the flush pipe had been made the wrong way round.
He left and came back and said he couldn't find the correct part. He said he would have to make one to attach the part we had.
we agreed £90 but he said because he made a part would have to pay £110.
Now after he left there was water all over the floor it was leaking from 2 parts.
And an issue with not putting long enough screw to hold base of toilet to floor.
He came back and said that was done.
He has resolved the screw issue and one of the leaks.
But it's still leaking from the part he had made.
Now he has said he will come back out again.
Now I need a plumber advice I'm hoping someone on here can help.
the part he made on the flush pipe he has used a decorators caulk.
Now from my understanding that is not waterproof. As it's been used for a toilet which involves water am I being stupid but surely shouldn't it be a waterproof product or do plumbers suppose to use this.
If so if he comes back he not going to resolve the problem then is he ?
And he keeps saying that he can't find the correct flush pipe.
But surly this wouldn't be hard to get hold of.
I am annoyed that I have had to give more money then agreed for a part that's clearly not working.
And the money in general as I still have a leaking toilet still. just coming from a different part now.
Can someone please give me advice.
Before I contact him again as don't know or not if I need to point out the decorators caulk.
Also I bought a new flexible pan connector.
Which he removed from the packet but never used.
Just left old one in.
Now can't return for a refund as been removed from the packet.
So waste of money.

What do you think is best to do now ?
Ask him to come back resolve leak use the correct stuff.
Ask him for a refund and pay somone else to fix the leek.
I'm assuming if a cowboy then he would be very unwilling to give my money back.
Could you help me with writing a response to him.

Really? You sure it is not some plumbers compound? They look similer although plumbers stuff never sets. But is waterproof.
I used such when I changed my toilet as the old pot soil pipe inlet is missing partway round at the top. Works great. Maybe he is just bad at using it.
Either way find a better plumber. Plumbing is easy unless you are an idiot. It's the horrible positions you have to do it in that make it hard.
These sort of things should have been tested before he left. Makes me think he is an idiot.0 -
Take some pics, upload them to a photo hosting site & post the links here without www & the forum will think it's just textI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
