Oh I'm fully aware of that, I was just pointing out that LC&F advertise on a decidedly mainstream social media platform, which could be why unsuspecting people keep running into them and then posting here. I wasn't meaning to suggest that they were legitimate because they advertise on Facebook, that would be daft.
I know. You just walked into that one big time.
I think one of the most common dodgy sites is the site that comes out top when you type best interest rates in google. its an advertised site on google (spot the AD) but it is unregulated, uncompliant (but as its unregulated, it can be) and full of false information.
Google ADs are another area that are abused and you should avoid.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

But having said that though, the founder of this very website is taking that particular "mainstream social media" company to court for defamation over its inability to exercise any control or factual validation on the advertisements it carries, so it is probably safer to assume that most adverts on social media are clickbait or lies or both.(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)0 -

Be careful though if you run with an adblocker in your browser.....out of curiosity, I just did this and was quite surprised by what came back as the first entry....this site......
Obviously it didn't have the little green "Ad" next to it....I had to think for a second....then the light bulb moment....oh yeah, I'm running with an adblocker.....
I'm pretty sure dunstonh is referring to an entirely different site....0 -

I've never seen a LC&F advert, however, RPDigitalServices Ltd (09709854) have paid for Google ad-words and Facebook adverts covering the searches best/top isa rates.

I'd certainly recommend anyone who views the adverts on Facebook to report them to ASA. If enough people do so then they may finally take some action. This post is yet another example of people seeing adverts that are unsuitable for savers with no intention of investing
I reported this ad a couple of days ago but the ASA have replied saying that financial ads fall outside of their remit so they've forwarded it to the FCA.0 -

The FCA have referred it back to the ASA as the ad is for a comparison site and not an individual financial product. The ASA are looking into it again.0 -

Farcical. But good news in a sense as if it had stayed on the FCA's desk, we know they'd've done nothing. It will be interesting to see if the ACA take any action or whether they just say the ad is accurate (in so far as the rates are correct) so it's fine.0
