Things to do in Guildford/Woking?

Options
Hi,

Me and my partner are planning a trip to Surrey to visit relatives - we're likely to have some spare time and wondered if there were any fun things to do in Guildford or Woking? Or anywhere else close - but we're reliant on public transport so nowhere too out of the way!

We're childless 30-somethings who are a bit young at heart - so far we're definitely going bowling, and possibly to the Pirate mini golf. Particularly interested in more quirky things to see and do!

Also, any local restaurants that have a decent vegetarian menu as well as things to satisfy omnivores? Cheaper the better, we're on a pretty tight budget.

Thanks in advance!

You can hire rowing boats on the river Wey (or used to be able to).

If you're fans of Lewis Carroll there's a statue of Alice and the rabbit in a nice-ish area to wander around. Also find his gravestone in the nearby church.

And I think you can now go up the Castle keep.

All that within walking distance of Guildford station.

Woking is where the martians landed in War of the Worlds ... nearby common.

Brookwood Cemetery, one of the largest in the UK.

Quirky enough? The local Tourist Information Office will be your friend ...

Thanks for the London suggestions - I'm actually from London and think I've seen all there is to see there!

:rotfl: I doubt it! I grew up there, and never felt I'd seen it all, always something new and quirky to discover.
