disposing of old petrol

We have 3 x platic petrol cans we inherited when we moved all full of petrol, maybe 5 years old? we dont have a tip near us, whats the best way to dispose of it please?

Pour it in your tank and drive with it.
5 year old fuel will burn perfectly well despite all the handwaving about it "going stale" - especially if you add it to new stuff that's already in there.0 -
Give it me. My lawnmower loves old petrol.

Or make a firebox / alcohol stove using a tin can and a roll of toilet paper.
Squeeze toilet roll into a tin, making a tight fit, pour in the petrol to soak the toilet roll, add a lid to vary the air entering and light it. Standard tin size will run for a long time if you only allow a small amount of air to enter.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

When I had a 2 stroke outboard motor I used, at the end of the boating season, to use up any of the surplus 50:1 mixture in my 4 stroke Honda mower. No problems whatever. A simple mower engine ( no calalytic convertor to worry about) is very tolerant.0 -
