Free Office Space.

Options
It's probably easier to come up with places you might possibly obtain office space than actually doing it. It goes without saying that you won't get free office space from any establishment that wants to rent out offices for a profit. Here's the list.

Cab office.
Spare room in a shop or supermarket (especially one which has been downsized).
Adult Education classroom.
Spare space at a hairdressers.
Unwanted artist studio.
Shop cellar or attic.
Spare room at pub or club.
Shed or unwanted container.

Nice list. The pub's definately a good one. Almost all pubs, the entire top floor is rooms, usually the landlord lives there. From my time working in some in the past, I can guarantee a couple of those rooms are full of junk.

Also, not technically free, but I work in my ex-boss's office almost when I want, as he hardly uses it. I just agreed to do a small task when he needs it. Sometimes it's 0 or 30 minutes, so I guess I'm technically paying, but it works for me, as the office is nice!

Some churches have converted space to make offices. Also worth googling for local co-working spaces: I'm sure prices will vary hugely!

You need to bear in mind that having someone work in a space that you own attracts responsibilities and costs. It might be free to you but it will not be free to the person who is letting you use it.

They will have to inform their insurance company that you are using the office space and their insurance premiums might increase as a result. Even if you pay for heating and lighting for your office space there will be other facilities that you use which are a cost to the owner of your free office space. You will probably want to use their toilets facilities which they clean and stock with toilet paper and towels and supply hot water to. You might use up a parking space. You will want to use their address as your business address as well. That will probably mean that they have sort out their mail and deliver your mail to you.

What I am saying is that you are probably looking for a room that someone is not using and they will be only too happy for a business to use it as it will not cost them anything and you will be keeping it aired etc. In reality they will be doing you a big favour and will probably need to charge you not because they want to make a profit, but because you are costly them money.
