Hi,

My student loan is part of the pre-2012 system (Plan 1). I understand that this debt gets wiped after 25 years.

I wondered if that also includes the interest, or just the original money borrowed?

Like most, I will probably never be in a position to pay off the student debt in full. I am worried that if the interest does not get wiped, by the time 25 years rolls around I will basically have as much interest as the original loan.

Thanks

Its the balance on the remaining amount in 25 years time. Check your paperwork though.

The remaining amount being, both the original student loan and the interest on top (sorry to be pragmatic, just double checking)? I will definitely look at the paper work too.
