It's managing her expectations that's been a nightmare really, the kind of house she really wants is a second or even third house, with a third house price tag which she can't afford. The idea with this one, would be to live in it, do the work to update it and then sell on in 5 years to increase her deposit on the house she really wants. If that makes sense. Finding a house she happy enough to live in for 5 years has been the nightmare lol

I was going to reply to this that your daughter is right, she needs to buy a house now that is future proof to some point as circumstances can change and she may never be able to afford to move. Thats what happened to me, I never intended my first home to be my forever home but it is now as I can't afford to move.

Then I saw the link, that house is like mine two up two down. Its ideal for a single person and when she has a family if she is unable to move it will accommodate them as well (just buts thats all you need) - from the way you were taking I was expecting the link to show a tiny one bedroom with no garden.

As a first time buyer I had help and alot of advise from my Dad, but I found my own home and made my own decisions, your daughter really needs to do the same otherwise she won't be happy in it. If her expectations are too high maybe she needs to find that out the hard way, she wont get a mortgage for what she can't afford perhaps let her go through that process so she knows its unattainable.

. She has rented for the last 3 years

Is the issue that she is renting a better/bigger home than this one?

I can see her point it must be difficult when you are buying to 'step down'.

No, it's a 2 bedroom first floor flat, in the same village that the house is in.

I think it looks like a very good start, it's very cheap and if she can afford to do it up then should be a great first home. Just be sure it's a good area, you can check local crime, Google local crime map and you can see what it's like

House is a good starter home
Has she looked at the new builds on dominion way at scawthorpe?
New builds 3 beds 70k on shared ownership
I have no idea how that works but brand new house nil work and I!!!8217;m assuming a 10yr build guarantee
They may have 2 beds too which would be cheaper
Best thing to do is talk to neighbours as you have and get the low down but I like Bentley plenty of shops etc and close to town
