Do you accept or go to the Ombudsman

Hi All
I have recently just wrote to Cards / Loans etc. I have lots of replies some to say no, some to say yes I had it and how to claim. But Lloyds just deposited money into my bank account, letter came a couple of days later explaining what it was for.
My question is do I just accept what they said or do I take it to the ombudsman? I have no paperwork only card / loan numbers. Neither of these facilities have been used for over 10 years.
I was told by people never to accept the first offer, is this right? or just be happy with the £1500 they have sent!
If I take it to the ombudsman and its rejected is there consequences?
Cheers in advance for any insight!

And what have they done wrong that you feel the ombudsman needs to mediate on?I was told by people never to accept the first offer, is this right?
What people told you that rubbish?
The calculati0on is defined by the FCA. Its not a haggling contest.
You would only go to the FOS if you felt the calculation was wrong and the bank were not accepting your reasons for why it was wrong.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I thought I would check as not into 'Pub Stall Talk' as I call it. I am more than happy with any payout really, as I didnt know if I would get anything as I have no paperwork.
Thank you all again.0
