Lime based plaster on walls with no cavity

Do older sold wall properties Victorian/Edwardian Terraced) need to have internal walls lime plastered or with modern central heating can you use plasterboard dot and dab?

dot and dab, but why not use insulated plaster boards for extra warmth...0

Ideally, lime plaster on solid walls. Dot & dab will cause problems, and any damp forming in the wall will highlight the dabs of adhesive.
If you are stripping the walls back to bare brick, building regs will oblige you to insulate the walls, in which case, leave a ventilated air gap between the brickwork & insulation.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
