"Alias does drainage"...

So,
Were looking to install a channel drain. The plan was to remove part of the existing Surface Water drain for the guttering, tap into it then make a P trap for a surface drain...
The first bit was exposing the existing drain, it appears to be very shallow. Removing some soil, i started to expose another piece of the drain post the trap, now were slightly worried its far too shallow... A tiny hole in the next join has appeared... (Pictured)
What do you recon this goes into, will it go horizontal or drop further into the ground...

I guess the answer is either -
1) Horizontal across the concrete
2) Verticle
3) Dont know, smash it open and have a look inside...

It looks like it has a slight 'bend' to it - hard to tell from photo's - if it does have a bend heading downwards, I'd dig a little further along in the general direction and work backwards towards it to find the answer - I would suspect it drops down a foot or so.

why do you need for a channel drain ?
Now days before we alter any underground/hidden drains we get a drain camera survey.
Most camera surveys have shown serious defects which the householder was unaware of,serious defects include leaks to poor diy installations.
