Yorkshire Energy ignored?
Comments
-
Not all energy providers pass on their details to all the switching sites.
So I would not read anything into it.
MSE has ignored other firms in the past too for no good reason. Also some companies doesn't want to be listed on the MSE website.
There is no mandate that every switching website has to list all companies and tariffs. Indeed OFCOM encourages switching sites to come up with unique deals.
Remember MSE is a money making company (part of moneysupermarket.com) so it may not be 100% happy with all the new suppliers who refuse to pay commission for new customers.0 -
Thanks gsmlnx. I was perhaps being naïve expecting MSE to cover ALL suppliers. I will check out some more switching sites.0

Anyone know why MSE ignores Yorkshire Energy? They are apparently cheapest for me but am nervous as MSE doesn't even seem to consider. Any ideas?
As a general comment, an endorsement (top pick) from MSE CEC is pretty meaningless imho. Outwith of collective switches promoted by MSE, CEC does not appear to undertake any business due diligence. Choosing any energy supplier is always a bit of a gamble. The !!!8216;good news!!!8217; is that unlike broadband; your mobile phone contract etc, your credit balance is not at risk if a supplier goes bust.
That said, I have, within the past 2 years, been with Powershop; Bulb; Octopus and Zog and I have had no issues. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I have switched today!
See how it goes.
Had a couple of emails but I was concerned they never asked for my current supplier during the switch.
I emailed to ask and they said they can find the info themselves.0 -

They do not need that information. Your present supplier only appears on suppliers' sites for comparison purposes. If a supplier has your address then the other information that is needed to manage a transfer will be on the National Meter Database. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Received a couple of emails from Yorkshire Energy and also one from EON saying sorry you're leaving.
So at least the wheels are in motion.0 -
Besides MSE I am also on a Lincolnshire Councils' group which has its own switching procedure and uses all the Councils of the County, to contact customers with switching offers to one chosen supplier every 12 months.
I have never, in more than 5 years, seen an offer that can be seriously beaten by EDF, whose tariffs I continually check and switch to when necessary. I would not consider leaving for less than £50 difference in annual total cost. Reading some of the horror stories about overcharging and poor service here, I will stay with EDF.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

As my E.on 2 year fix is coming to an end I have also gone to Yorkshire Energy; and so far so good.
Hope your fix goes well; as does mine!

That's strange. I have never, in more than five years, seen an EDF offer that was not beaten seriously by my E.ON tariff at the time. Which is why I renewed with E.ON last month, on a tariff that was (and remains) £263 a year cheaper for me than EDF's best.
Perhaps it's a regionality pricing issue. Odd, though.0 -
It looks like the fixed tariff that I signed upto - Ladybird - has now been pulled and replaced by 2 new tariffs - one fixed and one variable; YE variable and caterpillar fixed. Strange as they state they only offer one tariff.
Both prices more than the Ladybird tariff0
