VAT on quote

Options
Is it usual for vat to be included or excluded in a quote please? I have received a quote and there’s no mention of it.
Thanks.

It should be included if you are a consumer rather than business.

Is the person providing the quote VAT registered?

I would imagine so as the quote is for £6.5k for a week and a half’s work. There’s no vat no on the email and I’m not sure what the current threshold for vat is these days.

The turnover for mandatory registration is £85k pa. (but you can elect to register at any time) If the guy is trading below the threshold he is unlikely to be charging VAT.

Best thing to do is ask him.

If he is charging VAT there should be a valid VAT number on his quote.
