Ok, so I have been to see the people that run the retail park and they say they can!!!8217;t cancel these tickets and I need to contact UK Parking Control / DRP to get it cancelled. He also agreed that the reference given is not the full reference number, meaning I can!!!8217;t look up any pictures of the alleged incident. Altogether the bloke was very one sided and had no interest in trying to help get this resolved.

He did confirm that the car park is private property, so I pointed out that the EA 2010 doesn!!!8217;t require a badge to be shown, and he agreed (which surprised me!). Seems like that alone should have this case thrown out!

I got a bit stroppy with him (but didn!!!8217;t get abusive!) and told him I will have a chat with our MP to see if that will help things along.

Next step I guess is to email my MP!

In your opinions, should I try contacting UKPC to try and get the full reference number first, or is this more likely to just open a can of worms?

OK, so I may have jumped the gun a little, but I have emailed DRP asking for evidence of the offence as I figured my MP is likely to suggest that as a first course of action, plus he will probably want to see their response as well.

The email (written by me, sent on my wifes behalf, checked by her before sending) was carefully worded so as to not do anything in the way of admitting any liability and asked for all evidence of and relating to the alleged offence. I pointed out that we haven't had any previous correspondence about this matter and this is the first we have heard of it, 9 months later!

I also threw in a final note requesting that they deal with "my husband" (me) in all future correspondence as the initial letter was intimidating and threatening.
This is a request we make to many companies regularly and is a perfectly reasonable request as I tend to deal with most things on my wife's behalf anyway.

The interesting part is that they all seem to react differently to the request as they are never sure about how the DPA affects the information they would need to share with me. The GDPR will no doubt also kick in stronger here as well!
My understanding is that as long as my wife confirms she is happy for information to be shared with me (specifically!) then they are not breaching DPA / GDPR.

    Thoughts and comments welcome!

doesnt really matter who is getting the paperwork as long as she is happy for you to deal with it in her name

DRP cannot , I repeat , CANNOT cancel the alleged debt, they work for UKPC and only UKPC or a landowner or M.A. can cancel the alleged debt (or popla or a judge of course) - so that person is a fool for suggesting that DRP can cancel this alleged debt

you were told earlier to do the SAR under the GDPR/DPA laws, and it doesnt matter if the good lady has no reference from UKPC because she as a person is demanding all the info relevant to HER NAME at HER ADDRESS for vehicle AB12CDE registered in HER NAME

so request everything , PCN,s , photos , all data etc

that way she has all the references and data being held on their system

then take it from there , so you write it , she presses SEND

    good luck
