Socket and switch covers

Hi

I am just trying to have the covers of the socket and switches changed, when I search online there are many bundles in white sold relatively cheap.

1. Would metallic colours (chrome, brass) be more expensive or am i not searching properly (as in around four or more times more expensive)?

2. What are the brands that you would trust other than BG?

Thank you

    MK or Crabtree.

LOL. MK haven't been good for years.

That said, the correct answer to the OP is that the Electrician will supply them.

I'll stand to be corrected, but changing faceplates is relatively easy and safe to do for a sensible, competent DIYer? No need for an electrician IMHO.

    Have you tried Screwfix?

Does this DIYer have suitable calibrated electrical test equipment and the knowledge of how to use it?

As far as Risteard is concerned, there is no such thing as a competent DIY'er and every household electrical job must be undertaken by a qualified electrician.

    thank you so much

yes i am having an electrician perform the change as i am not fully confident myself, however he said that if it is white he can supply them but for metallic coloured ones he prefers me to source them

i was surprised the metallic coloured ones were more than 4 times the price of white ones, so i was not sure if i was searching properly

probably i will have to settle with white, don't think i am convinced to spend so much more just for the colour (though it would suit the flat better)

    Why are you changing them?

I replaced all my sockets and switches with black nickel finish from Screwfix.
NB: They were not four times the price of equivalent white items.

For light switches I went for the ML Logic white wide rocker much nicer than regular narrow rockers

    The covers don't have screws.

other wide rocker brands are available

Had some changed recently, I think from memory 5 double metal face plates were around £20 from screwfix

Kitchen fitter changed them if not I would have changed them myself.
