Buyer from South Korea but to send to UK address

Hopefully someone can give me good advice here.

I have a prospective buyer who would like to purchase 2 items but they are based in S.Korea and want the items posted to a friend in the UK. She is registered in S.Korea. Good English so she has possibly lived in the UK and it might be legitimate. My concern is that I will be posting to an address which is not her registered address with EBay.

I will be sending both parcels by Royal Mail Signed for. Not expensive items but I don't want to risk anything going wrong. Am I risking having any black marks against me for not sending overseas to her registered address? Any advice will be very much appreciated.

Yes, we have them all the time, usually a Forwarding shipping co, whom gather all the parcels & send them in Bulk.
Kind of how the Chinese send parcels to the UK, fill a pallet & send it Air Freight, then split it down & send via Royal Mail.

One advantage, you only need to send it the UK address & any issues beyond that is your customers problem

Is this just an address they gave you or an address they have registered with ebay or paypal?

If posting to random addresses it may cause issues if they claim its not their address.

Someone the others will post the latest rules on posting to a different address. I think it changed.

Have a read of the sticky postage thread. You should only post to the address that PayPal show as Ok to send to, it doesn't matter how you send the item otherwise, you would not be covered against a PayPal claim.

If the buyer has done this before they may well have a UK address set up already, so before you accept, their bid ensure they realise that they must show that UK address in PayPal.

Thank you all for your help.

Soolin, that was what I was thinking that I wouldn't be covered because the person is registered in S.Korea but using a UK address.

She is apparently buying the items for a friend in the UK. Just hoping it's not a scam but we've had so many messages going back and fore, that she seems legitimate.

I'll be able to check her address in Paypal once she pays but, because the items are going to a friend, she won't have that friend's UK address listed in her Paypal. Maybe I'll just need to take the hit on this if it goes wrong. The items will be sent Signed for though although not 100% guaranteed.

You can have any address you like on Paypal, you can add them as you checkout so your buyer can add her friends address without any problem.

Tell her you are happy to post to whatever address she likes as long as it is added at the checkout stage through Paypal.

All you need to do then is check that Paypal say it is covered by seller protection - this will be on the actual transaction when you login.

Regarding claims (INR) you need proof of delivery. Royal Mail now offer this free with parcels. Paypal/Ebay only need a signature if the value is over £750.

Regardling loss/damage - If the item is less than £20, your normal and free certificate of posting will cover you. Over that but under £50 you can use signed for, above that look at Special Delivery. Alternatively, use one of the carriers such as Hermes.

*I am assuming the item isn't one that is restricted/prohibited re postage.

Was just coming on here to ask a similar thing. Just sold item for £40 but buyer is registered in Egypt and posting address in paypal is a flat in London.

My questions are, how did he buy it in the first place as my listing is UK only with overseas locations blocked under the postage options, and is it ok to post?

My heart sank when I saw it was going to a flat in London anyway as the only time I get delivery problems is to flats, but now there's the added Egyptian thing. Advice appreciated.

To reiterate theonlywayisup's post above. Any address can be added to PayPal, the country of origin of the buying account is immaterial, ONLY the PayPal transaction details matter, it MUST say OK to send. Buyers can add as many addresses to their account as they wish, I have about 7 or 8 now including some old university addresses that my sons used when they went away to study.

Only last month I bought something and opted to have it sent to my son's partner, even though that address and even the name was not mine, it still would have shown to seller as OK to send and would be covered by PayPal seller protection.

Here's the sticky thread for those that haven't found it
