Breach of lease charges

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the charges handed out by leasehold companies. I have built an extension, told the company about it, but am now informed i told them too late! I am now expected to pay £1000 plus vat plus 'any further costs incurred' by the company gaining advice from other sources...i.e. more charges are on their way!?!:mad: Any advice would be greatly appreciated
