Short term let due to building work

We live in London and are planning on extending our home with a single storey ground rear extension and have been advised the work will take 3 months late in 2018.
There will be major restructuring of internal walls and the builder has advised we live elsewhere until the builders finish. My question is what would be the best way forward- rent a short term flat locally or agree a rate in a hotel?
I don’t know much about Airbnb.
We have no scope for a caravan or motor home being in suburbia and relatives cannot accommodate.
Any helpful advice welcomed many thanks.

If the builder says it will take 3 months it will probably take longer than that, and don't think you'll be able to move in the day the buildings finish unless you are paying them a premium to deliver your extension in 'show home' condition.
As anything less than a 6 months minimum short assured tenancy will be charged at 'holiday let' rates, you're probably as well just finding a 6 months tenancy. You'll be able to have proper phone and internet (subject to any contract minimum terms - watch out for those, you don't want to sign up to 18 months broadband) and have more space to store personal things you don't want to leave in the house, if you're not also getting self-storage somewhere.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I would go for 6 months rental too. I think will cause less stress and be cheaper in the long run0

Agreed, will save you from having to put furniture etc in storage, and give you more of a relaxed approach to moving in/out as well.0
