Very few Tablets support dongles, if it has Wi-Fi a My-Fi (unlocked or SIM free) would be the best option assuming it supports the mobile bands used in India.0

I would suggest you're better off using WiFi.
It's difficult to buy local SIMs and using a UK SIM is likely to cost a fortune.
Some info on Indian SIMs / mobile networks here:

SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab A 10.1" Tablet - 32 GB, Black
Hi can you advise if the above can take a sim card
Can't take a SIM card. You need the device shown in post #4.
This device takes a SIM card and creates a WiFi hotspot to which he can connect the Tablet.
You'll need to unlock it for use in India. The £0.99 eBay purchase will get you an unlock code and instructions. Takes a couple of minutes.
It also comes with an EE SIM with 2 GB of data. So you can test it in the UK before taking it abroad.0 -
Don't know where you live, but you may be able to pick up a 4G capable model for around the same or less; https://www.gumtree.com/for-sale/uk/mifi0

Where are you going? We toured northern and southern India and all of the hotels we stayed in had WiFi, most of them free. It depends on how much you need it really. (and if you need it or just want it lol.....)0
