Free Sky engineer visit

My gardener accidentally cut one of my cables on my sky dish.
I phoned sky to say sky tv not working. Did not say my gardener had cut the cable.
sky wanted £50 for the engineer. I just said then cancel my tv contact (I am on a rolling contract). The cancel guy then offered me a free visit.
I am going to try to get a free skyq box when he visits.
I do this trick every time when sky try to charge for an engineer. It has never failed.

What you mean you are out of contract and not in receipt of any discounts. With Sky when you cancel your "contract" what you really mean is you're handing your 31 days notice in. This is part of the T&Cs in which you are paying for the service 31 days in advance.
And the typical Sky call out charge is £65. Note that SkyQ uses a different LNB and box and usually requires a new contract, you can' just stick your Sky+HD card in it. Plus if you're with Sky long enough you can get SkyQ installed free anyway through the Loyalty programme.0 -

It's not really a 'trick'. You are not getting them to do something above and beyond.
How many times have you had cause to call them out? I have been with Sky for over 10 years and have had 1 call out. I'd say you need a new gardener and take more care of the equipment :rotfl:0 -

TBH , depending on how much £ you spend with Sky per month, they are hardly likely to risk losing a high value (paying) customer just because the Sky TV isn't working, regardless of what the problem is, if it were caused by you or the equipment failing, they don't want you to consider leaving, and you are not likely to pay for a service you don't get.
I often think, when I get letters from them offering me 'insurance' on my Sky equipment , who spends money on this , when the threat 'just cancel my account then' invariably gets a free repair visit, if it stops working.0 -

I am on a 50% off TV deal, which expires in November. I am on rolling contract so I can cancel anytime by giving 31 days notice.
I have not been with sky long enough to get free SkyQ.
I have had to call sky out 3 times since I have been with them. Last time I got a free replacement box. I will try ask for a free Sky Q. Worst case he says no and I just continue with my existing box.0 -

I have never bothered with Sky Protect insurance. Like you, I just threaten to cancel my contract. Always works.0 -
Engineer has visited. Did not get SkyQ. Did get a new sky remote.
He said when my contract comes to an end in November, just phone Sky to tell them that you want to leave Sky to join Virginmedia. Sky will then offer a free installation for Sky Q.0 -

Thought you were cancelling if you didn't get a free Q box ? :rotfl
why did you lie about how the damage happened ?
How much did you charge the gardener for the damage caused ? ( more to the point why was he gardening your roof ??)
All sounds very suss :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
