Breach of contract - invoiced for unauthorised work

The logistics firm informed me that customs at destination were a problem and the logistics firm halted the transport in Germany. Not me.
I went about finding a contract in destination who would let me accompany clearance to eliminate the concerns from the logistics firm ergo I take responsibility. Which I did.
No influence nothing underhanded just permitted access.
Yes all the shipment was personal belongings fully itemized and separated for taxable and non taxable goods.
The main point Here forget the customs part is the fact the logistics firm opted themselves to fly my belongings rather than the agreement made to transport via road. And the most important part the fact they feel I should pay for the unnecessary unwanted and non consented flight costs.
This is the area I would like to receive advice for please.
I have a solicitor who assures me without consent or contact and breaching the original contract this won't hold up in court.
Wondering what MSE also think.
Thanks
As far as I am aware none of the regular posters on this board are qualified legal professionals and, even if they purported to be, you would have no way of ascertaining whether this was true. Therefore take the advice of your solicitor rather than that offered by a bunch of random strangers on the internet.0 -

And if we disagree with your solicitor?
(a rhetorical question, I am not disclosing my opinion of the matter)If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

Awesome! They will 10000% be more qualified than anyone one here!
In regards to the £7000 flight cost claim(!) you'd need to defend that against the transport company; you'll probably need a solicitor there because of the huge cost.
In regards to your breach of contract claim, we really don't have a full picture to make a determination. Get that solicitor onto the contract and the particulars.
This whole thing is throwing me though...
I just don't understand why a transportation company would try and charge you £7000 for alternative travel arrangements. You are arguing that this has all been out of your control and in those circumstances a reasonable transportation company SHOULD provide alternative travel arrangements! That is common sense business-wise! They surely aren't that dodgy? If they are dodgy then you 100% have a case.
The only other thing I can think of is that YOU have breached the contract in some way? Maybe trying to send some items via road on the cheap, when they had to be sent by air. Germany cottoned on and at that point your items were put on a plane.
I'm just speculating though, this really isn't my fort!! You really do need a solicitor IMO.0 -
Not answered what the issue was at the customs. Why was there an issue?
I am expertly qualified and extremely experienced at using the backspace and delete keys on my keyboard. I have been using them far longer than your legal help.
