Old Style Daily Saturday 2nd June 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone :hello:
Yesterday turned out to be a bit of a nothing day. I went out early to get some shopping and when I got home just couldn’t find the energy to get on with anything. I had planned to give the bathroom a thorough clean but it just didn’t happen so I do really need to get that done today or tomorrow.
There is a festival in the park this weekend and I would like to go and have a wander around there today. When there is something on like that during the summer there seems to be a really nice atmosphere in the town.
I got given quite a lot of fresh raspberries by a neighbour yesterday so need to sort out the freezers a bit to find room for them. That isn’t going to be an easy task, they are pretty full at the moment.
I have got a couple of extra blankets I use in the winter and they have been folded up in a corner for a while waiting to be washed, so if it looks like it will be good drying weather I will get them done and on the line this morning.
I’m glad your stepdad is alright specky, that must have been really scary.
Nanny I do love afternoon tea at posh places, I hope that you all had a good time.
Have a good Saturday everyone.0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and myself up and enjoying first peaceful cuppas, had a disturbed night, just couldn't get comfortable and settle so have got up. I'll go for a shower shortly then get some brekkie.
Cloudy, overcast and dreich start to the day here, looks set in for the day, yesterday forecast wasn't great but turned out lovely and sunny.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk, I had mushroom omelette and salad. Not sure about tonight but will sort when I do the food shopping this morning.
Electrician got all done yesterday, and so far everything seems ok, we'll see. He is coming back to fit a new kitchen light once we chose one.
This morning I'll be food shopping at 8am and then into town.
Keep safe and well x

LameWolf If you walk into a room where Scampi is asleep, he sometimes growls for a second then realises who it is and is fine. He did it to me on thursday and I said are you really going to tell me off on the day I've got you free food and treats? and he immediately calmed down. Obviously he calmed down because I'm his human, but I prefer to think he did it because he's grateful for the extras. That's my story and I'm sticking to it
Happy holidays bellabella
Hope your step-dad is feeling OK Speky x
Now that the days are longer, the chickens are out for longer and eating and drinking more. This means much more mess is deposited in their shed overnightI gave the shed a good clean, emptied the nesting boxes and filled them with fresh shredded paper. I've left the old stuff (bark, paper, coffee husks, straw and of course, poo!) in a big pile for now, it can go in the compost bin over the next couple of days.
It was muggy yesterday afternoon, I was wilting. It feels nice and fresh at the moment, I hope it stays that way, I have so much more energy when the weather's like this. I have three loads of washing to do, need to de-fur the sofas and will spend a bit of time in the greenhouse. First, a nice calm (hopefully, lol) walk.

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. After another beautiful day yesterday we finally had some rain in the evening - the first we have seen for weeks and weeks and most welcome as it saves me watering the pots etc this morning! I noticed the slugs and snails were out in force last night in the rain so I hope they have left my new plants alone!
The Friday Tidy got done yesterday but it was a lick and a promise as it was too warm to tackle heavy cleaning. Plus I felt so tired all day and just wanted to slump on the sofa. Every so often life catches up on me.
DD wants us to try again this afternoon with our postponed trip to Skipton. The two youngest DGDs are at ballet this morning and she suggests we go on the train when they finish as it's quicker than driving and no exorbitant parking charges to pay! She just wants a browse of the market stalls etc and then early tea somewhere with outdoor tables (weather permitting!!) Mr TA will be staying home, as he is not up to trailing round, so I will leave him an assortment of little and often meals and hope he manages to eat them without me hounding him! His new eating plan started off reasonably well yesterday and then fizzled a bit. But it's early days so onwards and upwards hopefully.
Have a good day folks and I hope all those off on their jollies get there safely. ((HUGS)) to all who need/want them. Mrs SD get well soon, I wondered where you had disappeared to! Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all, happy holidays to those who are away now.
I was a busy beetle yesterday so didn't get here. Bathroom is blitzed and I've been trying to deal with mould - it creeps in even though I keep the window open as much as possible. The rest of the house just got a Friday Tidy rather than a proper clean. I am leaving that for this week because am so busy getting all my work sorted out. Nearly there though.
Yesterday we were told by several weathermen and the local media to expect storms of life-threatening proportions. The same the previous day. So my washing has stayed indoors. We did get 10 minutes of life-threatening drizzle yesterday afternoon but that was all.
Speky what a horrible experience for your stepfather, I hope he isn't too shaken once it has sunk in.
Today I'm carrying on with the washing in the face of a potentially life-threatening large cloud and I need to go to the market for buttons and am going to see a friend. I have a big tin of buttons and I've used up all the ones in the right size and colour for one of the baby cardigans I've made for a friend a work. This is an autumn baby to come, and tge things are second and third size, a summer baby would be boiling in cardigans.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
Another beautiful morning with the sun splitting the sky, I've opened the kitchen window for some cool air. We too were expecting very heavy rain and thunder storms yesterday afternoon but still nothing, not a drop has fallen! I hope the allotment is ok as I didn't bother going to water it yesterday, I'll go later.
Your stepdad is a brave man Speky, hope he's recovered.
Hope you get to Skipton TA, you deserve a break.
I'm going to a yoga class this morning, just to prove how inflexible I am! I think my friend is going too so at least we'll have a laugh.
Gave the laundry room a good clean yesterday, there were dust bunnies floating about trying to escape. I even moved the freezer out to clean under it but can't shift the WM, I would imagine it will get done when it breaks and I need a new one!
Hope you all have a good weekend, take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Lovely and warm with a light breeze here. DH gone to allotment to get swede plants in, I’m sorting out greenhouse before a bike ride along th prom later.
No real plans, a few jobs to do before we go for four nights to the Isle of Wight on Tuesday. just caught up with DGDs in Australia.
Got some library books to pick up, we’re very lucky in that we can order for free, so if I like the look of something, I order it in.
Have a good weekend, thinking of those having problems at the momentCarolbee0 -
Morning everyone,
Ha AOD you did make me laugh with your life threatening weather, we have been promised storms on several occasions this week but have hardly seen a drop, after a cloudy start it did brighten up yesterday and I sat in the garden for a while. Hopefully today will do the same.
I need to exercise Lu today as she has had a couple of days off, yesterday I took our grooming kit out to her paddock, gave her a brush and then just spent time with her. My kit is a hard box so handy seat to plant my bum on and it was lovely just to watch her grazing, she wandered over now and again to sniff my hair & blow kisses on my face
Not sure about tea, will see what a freezer dive comes up with but feeling a bit cba today so who knows.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning everyone. I've got all my housework done nice and early and towels are out on the line. Don't know if they'll dry much as a mist keeps swirling in...its very warm though.
We were forecast rain too yesterday but instead had a lovely sunny and hot afternoon. I was outside until almost 8pm. Bought lots of plants from Homebase and got them all planted, so I'm pleased that's done.
Just had a cuppa so I'm going to walk along to Asda and see if they have any cropped black trousers for work. Then I'll call at my mam and dads for a little while...then I can have the afternoon to myself with a new book to start.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
TA and Holly have a good time in Skipton and at the park.
I need to get myself in gear to organise food shopping for this week - healthy eating being the order of the day because I need to stop puttiing on weight, I feel like a blob! We also need to take Ziggy for her walk.
Otherwise I won't bore you all with my doings. DD is in Somerset, her DH turned 40 this year and 3 of his friends have or will also reach that milestone this year so they are having a 160th party in a big house there. They know how to party but DD says she won't indulge too much.0
