Bmw warranty on used car - breakdown cover

Hi,

My 1 series bmw is coming up to its 1 year warranty/breakdown cease as I got it as a used approved bmw. I am keeping the car....the quotes for the warranty/breakdown is extortion.

Ranging from 600 per year for full warranty to 150 for the bmw emergency service/breakdown. What is worth taking out - as I do not want to be paying circa 1k per year in taking this out as well as service costs! Do I just default to normal breakdown services AA/RAC etc - or is this bmw package worth it...car is 5 years old

    YES or NO.

We don't know your situation or requirements...

How does the cover compare for your requirements?

Don!!!8217;t buy the warranty then. You have to understand that if your vehicle suffers a breakdown, you!!!8217;ll have to cover the cost yourself.

Just google what goes wrong with the 1 series, and decide whether it is worth gambling £600 not to end up paying literally thousands to get it fixed.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

If they were that bad there'd be 1 series all over the hard shoulders.

Take the £600 a year, stick it in a separate account. If you end up with a repair the money is there, if you don't or not that many then you have a chunk of money towards your next car.

I've never had a warranty. In the last decade, 2 cars and almost 200,000 miles I've not even had £1000 in repairs.

Thanks for this - I think I will just go with mainstream breakdown places AA/RAC

    Consider AA Breakdown repair cover.

As well as offering breakdown cover, if your car breaks down and you call the AA, they will pay up to £500 per claim (4 or 5 allowed in a year) towards parts and labour to fix.

Ive used it twice this year, once on s seized calliper (£85) and once on a faulty EGR (£829 total cost, AA paid £500).
