Thank you. My husband is home now.
Van is even worse in real life. We are no longer replying to any texts, emails or phonecalls.
As my husband did not charge him for use of the van, they agreed to put it through MOT which they stated today was a 'dodgy' one.
So need to get all this sorted next. !!!128529;
Obviously they are sending invoices still for work they say is 'completed', we have a pile of evidence prove otherwise. Should we just leave it and see if they take it further or take them to court?
Are we within our rights to hold payment, until we see the state they have left every site in?
Sorry for the questions0 -
Legal advice. That's what you need. And the solicitor you consult will want to see the written agreements you had with this contractor regarding inspection of completed work, payment terms etc.Signature removed for peace of mind0

what does the contract say about the works he would pay them for?
what does the contract say about the standard of workmanship to be achieved
what does the contract say about inspection of works and the payment terms?
Has your husband ever heard of a JCT contract? (ie the standard contract used in the construction industry)
whether it is worth taking legal action against the sub contractor comes down to how much money is at stake and what evidence you have to support your claim. Given how out of your depth you are it would be pointless you trying to do that on the back of a few internet comments.
Either pay a construction industry lawyer, or walk away.
Then review the lessons you and your husband have learned about how not to run a business in the construction sector.0
