You can never rely on instant withdrawal as their systems may be suffering an incident or down for maintenance.

The best option to get your savings into your bank account quickly to enable you to spend it would probably be to save with the same bank such as the Nationwide or Santander 5% regular saver accounts. I have done instant transfers out of both of these accounts. However beware as not all bank savings accounts are as flexible.

Depends when you ask for your money and depends on the institute. If you do it before 2pm on a working day some of the non-high-street banks will do it the next working day but generally non-high-street banks are not faster-payment banks and you will have to wait until the end of the next working day.

If you view Tesco as a non-high-street bank you will probably find they are about the only faster-payment one out there - I think.

Most banks have a FAQ page that will give you chapter and verse on when payments will reach their destination.
  • thanks terry, tesco is indeed the best. you even get a card to get cash in our local store ! better than i hoped.
