Mattress Dilemma

Good evening!
Six months ago we purchased two (expensive) new mattresses from a reputable shop. Over the last few months we have not been happy with them but were told they take time to settle. It has now been proved, by the manufacturer's inspector that one mattress is faulty. At the same time he told us that the sprung bases we already had are not suitable for the mattresses purchased and when seen in the store they would been on a non-sprung base. No discussion on the bases were made at the time of purchase. They are offering to replace the faulty mattress but we still have a problem in that both are uncomfortable because of the bases. Can we claim a refund on both mattresses as they purchased together to go on one bed (two singles for a superking). Should we complain about the non-discussion on the bases and get a refund? Are we entitled to two new mattresses? Help!

Did you actually mention what base you had prior to buying the mattress? What type of bed frame/base was the display mattress on?

No the base wasn't brought up in the conversation at all. Didn't even realise it was sprung! The mattress was on a firm non sprung base in the store when we tried it before buying.

Did you ask about the base.

I would assume mattresses could be used on either sprung bases or solid bases though.

Have you checked on the manufacturers website to see if makes any mention of the type of base
